Image Processing and Pattern Recognition
Image Processing and Pattern Recognition
Qualification / The research activity is covering al the research fields mentioned above and was
Fields of concretized by participation in national and international research projects:
expertise: “SCABOR – Stereo Camera Based Object Recognition System for Vehicle
Application” – international research project financed by Volkswagen AG,
Germany (2001 – now)
“Method and system for real-time acquisition of high-resolution 3D images
based on trinocular stereo-vision” – national research grant financed by MCT
(2004 – now)
“Distributed system for medical image acquisition processing, storing and
retrieval in hospital environment, compliant with the DICOM Standard” –
national research grant financed by MCT (2001-2003)
The obtained expertise of the research team has reached the state-of-the-art level in
some specific fields of the computer vision: camera calibration, stereo
reconstruction, object detection and tracking, lane detection for automotive
applications, stereo image acquisition systems (control, programming, design).
Achievements:
SCABOR – application for real-time lane and obstacle detection and tracking
in the driving environment of a moving vehicle
DICOM – compliant infrastructure for image acquisition, storing, processing,
retrieving and structured reporting of medical images
FORS – a tool for features extraction and pattern recognition for industrial
images
Collaboration with The students are involved in the research activities beginning with semester projects
students: and continuing with their diploma and dissertation work. We provide facilities for
students to carry out their diploma work in our research group or with our partners
(Volkswagen A.G. Research Center).
Target groups: Companies and other organizations interested in vision based automotive
applications, vision based robot application or vision based industrial inspection and
measurements, medical imaging.
