 Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning Sir!

Okay, before you take your seats,

please pick up the pieces of paper
and arrange your chairs properly.
Thank you, Sir.
Please be seated.

 Checking of Attendance
Is there any absent from the class None Sir.
today?
 Setting of Standards
Before we start, I will give rules for
you to follow.
First, avoid unnecessary noises.
Second, raise your hand if you
want to answer or even in asking
questions. Do not talk or answer in Yes, Sir.
chorus. Understood?
A. ELICIT

Let us first have a review of our

previous discussion.
So, who can recap some of it.

Yes, please.
Our past discussion is all about mitosis and meiosis

What is the difference between

mitosis and meiosis? Mitosis produces two genetically identical “daughter” cells from a
single “parent” cell, whereas meiosis produces cells that are
genetically unique from the parent and contain only half as much
DNA.
Very good!

B. ENGAGE

So, let’s watch first a short video

presentation about our topic for
today. You may list down
important details in the video.
Are you ready?
Yes Sir.
(Students will watch the video attentively)

So, class what can you The video shows the two ways of reproduction
say about the video.

Our topic for today is about sexual

and asexual reproduction.

Before we proceed I am going to

present our learning targets for the Objectives:
day. a) Define sexual and asexual reproduction.
b) Cite the advantages of sexual and asexual reproduction in
Kindly read the objectives, producing an offspring.
everybody read. c) Classify organisms if it undergoes sexual or sexual
reproduction.
C.EXPLORE

Okay, let’s have an activity.I am

going to divide the class into two
groups. Each group will be given
some pictures and you will classify
each picture if it is under asexual
reproduction or sexual reproduction
and after that each group will have
a representative to present their
work.
Our activity will be called
“Where do I belong?”
This will be the rubrics:
Collaboration -3
Accuracy -2
Time bounded-1
Presentation- 4
Total- 10
After 5 minutes, each group will
Present their work.
We are given four pictures, the tiger, rabbit, cactus and katakataka,
(After 5 minutes). Time’s up. so we put the tiger and rabbit in sexual reproduction while cactus
Let’s proceed now to the and katakataka are in asexual reproduction.
presentation, let’s start with group
1.

Okay let’s start!

We are also given four pictures which are the gumamela, frog, fern
Very good! Next group?
and mango tree, so we put gumamela and frog in sexual
reproduction while fern and mango tree are in asexual reproduction.
Nicely done! Next group?

Okay, thank you. All of your

answers are correct because
sunflower, rabbit, gumamela and
frog are under sexual reproduction
in which they have sex cells that
undergo fertilization while cactus,
katakataka, fern and mango tree are
considered asexual reproduction
because they have one parent.

Do you have any questions?

None sir!

C. EXPLAIN.
To be able to know sexual and
asexual reproduction, let’s discuss
first the definition of reproduction.

So, class what do you think is

reproduction?

Reproduction is when organisms

produce new living things.

Reproduction is when organisms

produce or form new living things.
It occurs when plants and animals
reproduce to make new individuals
of the same species.

So, we now proceed to the two

types of reproduction. First is the
sexual reproduction.
Sexual reproduction happens when
two parent cells combine,
producing an offspring wherein
fertilization process takes place. The sex cells involved in sexual reproduction are the sperm cell and
egg cell
Class, what are the two sex cells
involve in sexual reproduction?
Any idea from the class?

Yes, you’re correct.

Fertilization process happens when Dog, Dolphin, Monkey and Human beings undergo sexual
an egg cell and sperm cell joined reproduction, Sir.
together.

Who can give some example of

organism that undergoes sexual
reproduction?
Yes?

Very good, exactly even human

beings undergo sexual reproduction
because only multicellular
organisms can undergo this type of
reproduction.

So, we now proceed to the last type

of reproduction, the asexual
reproduction.

Asexual reproduction takes place

when organism produces offspring
without fertilization. It involves
only on parent. A reproduce
offspring in this type of
reproduction inherit all their DNA
from one parent, they are
genetically identical to each other
and to their parent

So class, How does offspring

produce in asexual reproduction? Binary Fission is a type of asexual reproduction of a cell by
dividing into two approximately equal parts.
Offspring produce by cell division.

That’s right; in asexual

reproduction offspring produce by
cell division and the following are
the types of asexual reproduction.

 Binary Fission
 Budding
 Fragmentation

Let’s first discuss Binary Fission.

So, what is binary fission?
Everybody read!

Very Good!

In binary fission organism divides

in half where identical daughter
cells produced. Examples of this
are bacteria, E.coli, and pond
critters.

Next is Budding, new organism

grows by mitosis and cell division
on the body of its parent. Small bud
grows out of parent cell where new
offspring is produced.
An example of organism that
undergoes budding is yeast. Yeast
undergoes budding, also hydra and
cactus.

And the last is fragmentation. What

do you think is fragmentation?
Fragmentation occurs when a
parent organism breaks into
fragments, or pieces and each
fragment develop into new
organism.

Examples are lobsters, lizards, Sexual reproduction involves two parent cells while asexual
Newts, tadpoles, crabs, and hydra reproduction involves 1 parent cell.

What is the advantage of asexual

reproduction?

These are the advantages of asexual

reproduction;

 Enables organisms to
reproduce without a mate
 No wasted time and energy
 Enables some organisms to
rapidly reproduce a large
number of uniform
offspring

Class, what do you think is the

difference between sexual and
asexual reproduction?

Okay, Very good. Sexual

reproduction involves two parent
cells which are the sperm and egg
cell that undergoes fertilization to
produce an offspring while Asexual
reproduction involves one parent
cell, that results in offspring that
are genetically identical to each
other and to the parent.
Very good everyone!!

D. ELABORATE

So, did you understand our topic Yes sir!

for today?

Okay, if you understand our topic, Sexual reproduction involves two parent cells which are the sperm
can you define what sexual and and egg cell that undergoes fertilization to produce an offspring
asexual reproduction is? Yes ? while Asexual reproduction involves one parent cell, which results
in offspring that are genetically identical to each other and to the
parent.

Very good

E. EVALUATE

But, before we end our discussion

we will have an activity to test if
you really understand our lesson
for today. Is that okay class?

Our activity is entitled “How do I

reproduce?” In this activity, I will
group you into two groups and I
will give each group one picture
and you will identify which of the
two types of reproduction that
animal/plant undergoes and you are
going to explain it based on what
you learned from our lesson in
front.

But, before you start your activity,

here are the rubrics of the activity
for you to be guided accordingly.

RUBRICS:
Content-30%
Relevance-30%
Delivery-20%
Time Bounded-20%
TOTAL-100%
Okay let’s start, you only have 2 Group 1
minutes to do that!

Okay time’s up! Please present

your work group 1.

Good Morning classmates! So, the picture we are given is the tiger.
Tiger reproduce by sexual reproduction because they produce their
offspring by having two parent cells

Group 2

Okay, very Good group 1! Okay

next is the group 2, please present
your work.

So, Good morning classmates, we were given the picture of cactus.

Cactus reproduces by budding, which new organism grows by
mitosis and cell division on the body of its parent. Small bud grows
out of parent cell where new offspring is produced. Budding is a
type of asexual reproduction.

Very good group 2!

It seems that all of you understand
my lesson well.

F. EXPAND

So, your assignment is about types

of cells. You need to read in
advance about this topic. And in
1/2 crosswise list all the important
details of it. None sir.

Question?? Good bye and thank you, Sir Patrick.

Goodbye and thank you class!!
