The Plastic Pandemic: Assessing the Environmental Impact of Single-Use Plastic Bags

Single-use plastics, which are designed for disposal after a single use, have evolved to

be a considerable contributor to complex environmental problems, and thereby pose a threat

to biodiversity. The ecological ramifications of single-use plastics, like plastic debris

pollution, animal consumption, and worldwide degradation, have far-reaching implications.

In order to effectively streamline the ecological costs linked to the production and

consumption of single-use plastic bags, governments and scholars have to address

environmental externalities. Although many governments and environmental agencies have

engaged campaigns and pushed for initiatives to reduce the adverse footprint of single-use

plastics, much is still needed to advance sustainable ecological systems. The main goal of the

study is to assess the environmental influence of single-use plastic bags. This goal is

increasingly motivated by the urgent need to protect the ecological systems from further

deterioration and offer sustainable solutions concerning the issue. The study hypothesizes that

the potential negative impact of single-use plastic bags include ecological, physical, and

environmental implications. The study intends to address the following concerns: (1) what

are the adverse environmental effects of single-use plastic bags? (2) What other stakeholders

have countermeasures that address plastic bag pollution? Exploring these study questions

offers meaningful insights into the proposal's rationale to offer practical implications for

reducing debris pollution while advancing the study hypothesis. Single-use plastic bags are

increasingly omnipresent globally, and their consumption is soaring. Therefore, this study

should seek viable opportunities for interventions to ensure practical and sustainable

strategies for mitigating their adverse impacts are proposed. Overall, the study should add to

the growing scholarship on single-use plastic debasements and their associated piled

consequences on the global ecosystem.
