MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE CHECKLIST
SETTING TO WORK & PREPARATION:
1) Shut down the engine.
2) Put maintanence notice
3) Swith off the power supply
4) Prepare the tools for dismantle the engine
5) Prepare the surronding area with cardboard and rags to put the things that have been dismantle

DISSEMBLING PROCESS LIST:


1) Disconnect and remove the exhaust and injector pipes from the engine.
2) Remove the rocker cover and then withdraw the injectors.
3) Remove the rocker shaft assembly. Tie cord around the end supports, to prevent the rockers becoming
diassembled during removal.
4) Dismantle the the rocker shaft assembly. Release the cord and remove the supports, rockers and springs in
sequence to facilitate reassmbly. Unscrew two bolts locating the rocker shaft to remove the remainning
components.
5) Extract the push rods, keeping them in their correct order.
6) Remove the cylinder head. Unscrew the cylinder head bolts evenly. Lift off the cylinder head and gasket.
( the cylinder head must not be laid on its face if the injectors are still fitted or the nozzle will be damaged)
7) Dismantle the cylinder head as follow :-
- remove the valve stem and rotator caps, and keep the in order.
- after removing all valve springs, turn the cylinder head onto its side and remove all the vavles keeping them
in their correct order
8) Clean off the excess oil on the pistons and on the cylinder head, piston and engine block
9) Take the measurements of the bore and stroke of the piston

ASSEMBLING PROCESS LIST:

1) Replace the gasket head if there are not in good condition.


2) Decarbonise the cylinder head. Remove all the carcon from the cylinder head face, valves and ports. Re-cut
the valve seats and grind the valves if necessary and then lightly lap in to produce a continuous narrow seating.
Excessive lapping will result in a seating which is too wide and pocketed valves.
3) Reassemble the valves and springs as follow :-
- lubricate each valve stem, insert it into the appropriate valve guide and position the head against the seat.
Fit valve spring seats around the valve guides and the umbrella trpe of oil seals to the valve stems with the
open ends to the head.
- turn the cylinder head onto its face and place the valve spring and retainers over the valve stems and and oil
seals locating the springs in the spring seats.
- compress the valve springs, located in the rocker support bolt hole.
- assemble the rotator caps to the exhaust valve stems and check the clearence between the end of the valve
stem and the inside face of the cap.
- fit the inlet valve stem caps
4) Fit the cylinder head. Locate the cylinder head gasket on the locating dowel and studs, screwedinto the four
corner cylinder head bolts holes. Fit the cylinder head and install the bolts before removing the two locating
studs. Tighten the head bolts down evenly in the correct sequence. Finally, tighten the bolts down to the
correct torque.
5) insert the push rod, ball end first, into their respective bores where they will automatically engage with the
tappets.
6) Reassemble the rocker shaft. Assembled in the locations from which they were originally removed.
7) Fit the rocker shaft assembly to the cylinder head, make sure the push rods are correctly engage with the
adjusting screws tighten the rocker shaft retaining bolts.
8) Adjust the valve clearence, by turning the crankshaft until the valves given in the first column are fully open.
9) Refit the injector and exhaust valve and fit back the rocker cover.
