GE2: Readings in Philippine History
Objectives
A. To produce regionally competitive graduates with skills toward entrepreneurship, employability, and employment generation.
B. To develop research competence among students to contribute to advancement of knowledge in the life sciences.
C. To extend health and environmental information and services to the community.
D. Develop students’ scientific, moral, social, economic, political and culture heritage through education that adapt to technological advances.

Course Description:
The course analyzes Philippine history from multiple perspectives through the lens of selected primary sources from various disciplines and genres.
Students are given opportunities to analyze the author’s background and main arguments, compare different points of view, and identify biases and other
interdisciplinary themes that will deepen and broaden their understanding of Philippine political, economic, cultural, social, and religious history. Priority is
given to primary materials that could help students develop their analytical and communication skills. The end goal is to develop the historical and critical
consciousness of the students so that they will become versatile, articulate, broad-minded, morally upright, and responsible citizens.

Course Requirements:

1. Attend and participate class discussion and meetings.


2. Accomplish all the specified course outcomes; and
3. Obtain a passing score in quizzes and major examinations.

Course Grading System

Lecture Grade

A. Online/ modular Quizzes (20%)


At the end of every lesson, online / face-to-face quiz will be administered to assess the learning and mastery of the students after the teaching and learning
process. Absentees who fail to take the quiz will not be given a special examination.

B. Outputs, and Reporting (25%)


To assess students’ mastery and performance, authentic and performance assessment will be administered.

C. Attendance/ Participation (15%)


Students’ attendance will be checked in face-to-face and online participation and presence. Participation will be assessed on the number of quizzes, assignment,
and exercises they have submitted on time.

D. Midterm/ Final Examination (40%)


Midterm and Final examination will also be administered. This examination includes the topic that was covered within the time given before midterm or final
exam. Questions will be coming from the lesson coverage throughout the semester.
