Question 28. A. interested B. specialized C. invested D. involved
Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D to indicate the correct answer to each of the
questions from 29 to 33.
In the cities of the future, people will experience big changes in their everyday lives. These urban residents
will be part of a highly advanced and connected environment, where new technologies and innovative
infrastructure come together to make city life easier and more efficient.
Future cities will have smart systems that use resources well, make getting around easier, and help protect
the environment. Buildings will be energy-efficient and have smart sensors that adjust things like temperature
and lighting based on how many people are there. This will save energy and reduce the amount of pollution.
Transportation systems will be well-connected, so people can easily move from one place to another. Electric
and self-driving cars will also be common, which means less traffic and less air pollution.
In addition, technology will change the way people interact with their city. Advanced augmented reality
(AR) systems will show digital information on top of the real world, giving people useful and personalized
suggestions. They will also be able to navigate the city with the help of interactive holographic displays that
show important places, public transportation options, and real-time traffic updates. Also, there will be fast
internet everywhere, so people can easily communicate and connect everyday objects to the internet to make
life easier.
But there will also be challenges along with these advancements. People in future cities will need to adapt
to new complexities and risks. As technology becomes more important for critical infrastructure, there will be a
bigger risk of cyber-attacks and data breaches. It will be important to have strong security measures to protect
people’s privacy and keep their information safe from bad actors.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct
answer to each of the questions from 33 to 40.
Scientist Dr Russell Carley is interested in finding out about friendship in the 21st century. He started
by trying to answer the question: “Can online friends be as good as face-to-face friends?” Surprisingly, he
found that the answer is a big yes! A friend is someone who gives you honest advice and support, and, of
course, an online friend can do that. When you feel anxious in the middle of the night, there's always
someone who can give you support through a text, a message or just a 'like'.
Having online friends is good for your memory, too. There's a lot of information to check every day.
When you see an interesting holiday picture, you make a note in your mind to ask your pal about it next
time they're online, or when you're together in person. Also, you can find friends who have the same
interests as you more easily. For most of us, the online community provides support, it builds our
confidence, and we feel loved.
So, if online friends are so good, do we need real friends? Interestingly, Dr Carley's research suggests
that we do. As he points out, with your real friends, you are in the same physical space; you create memories
together as you experience and enjoy doing things with each other. You have to be more responsible with
your real friends, as you can't just 'unfriend' them if you disagree with them!
Dr Carley explains the science. “When you are with your friends, you get hugs and high fives. Hugging
is good for us because our body produces a chemical called oxytocin that makes us feel good and we also
feel trust and love. Chatting to your best pals, you copy their words and gestures. When they smile, you
smile too! So, in conclusion, both real friends and online friends are great - they just help us in different
ways.”
