Introductory Message
This Self – Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that you, our dear learners, can continue
your studies and learn while at home. Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and
discussions are carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-step as you
discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge of lessons in each SLM. This will tell
you if you need to proceed with completing this module or if you need to ask your facilitator
or your teacher’s assistance for a better understanding of the lesson. At the end of each
module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning. Answer keys are
provided for each activity and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher are also provided to our
facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can best help you with your
home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM.
Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests. And read the instruction
carefully before performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty in answer the tasks in this
module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.
Thank you.
This module is created to help in catering to the needs of the learner of the
fourth quarter of grade 5. This module emphasizes the development of the child in
organizing data in tabular form and line graph form, as well as interpreting data in
different kinds of line graph-single to double line graph.
After going through the module, you are expected to:
organizes data in tabular form and presents them in a line graph. (M5SP IV g-
2.5)
interprets data presented in different kinds of line graphs (single to double-line
graph). (M5SP-IVh-3.5)
Believe that learning can continue though we are in a health crisis due to
this pandemic. So, find time to study this module, and let’s make it fun and enjoyable
while learning. Good luck, keep safe and God bless.

What’s New
Here’s a selection taken from a paragraph. Read and understand it carefully then
answer the questions that follow in a separate sheet.

“We all make choices. It does not matter if it is as simple as choosing what food you will
order in your favorite fast food chain or as complicated as deciding if you will continue
your studies here or abroad. These choices will surely affect our life, in one way or
another. One of the most important choice that we will make once we get older is our
right to vote.” How many vowels were used in the selection?
Based on the selection, we can organize the number of vowels as shown in the table
below:

What’s is It
A Organizing Data
The organization of data is commonly done through tables. When organizing data
using tables, it is important to properly label the rows and columns and include a title
that briefly describes the data in the table. Collection of data can be done through
surveys, interviews, or observations. Moreover, data gathered and organized can be
presented using line graphs.
Data can be organized in two ways which are in Tabular form and Line graph.
Tabular Form
Organizing data in tabular form needs to create a table with a tally and
frequency to record or determine the number of times the answer occurs/happened.
It enables you to examine relationships within the data that might not be clearly
identified right away.
Line Graph
On the Y-axis (vertical lines) is the number of commonly used vowels, while on the
X-axis (horizontal lines) are the vowels used. Both presentations of data in the table
and the line graph show that “O” is the vowel that is commonly used while “U” is the
least.
We must organize the data so that presentation, interpretation, and analysis will be
easily identified or understood.
What’s More
Directions: Read, organize and draw a line graph based on the selection.
Grade 5-Santan held their class election last Monday. For the position of
secretary, Anna, Therese, and Mario were nominated. In their class of 45
pupils, they gained the number of votes: for Anna-IIII-II, Therese-IIII-IIII-IIII-
III, while Mario-IIII-IIII-II.
