STEM
!. LEARNING STANDARDS
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding on Division of Function
B. Performance The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving
Standards polynomials and polynomial
equations through appropriate and accurate representations.
The learner is able to divide functions, using factoring, long
division and synthetic division.
C. Learning Perform division of function.
Competencies with
Code
D. Enabling 1. Identify the dividend, divisor, and quotient in function.
Objectives 2. Differentiate the two methods (long division and synthetic
division) in dividing functions.
3. Explain how to represent a remainder in dividing function
using long division and synthetic division.
II. CONTENT DIVISION OF FUNCTIONS

IV. PROCEDURES
PRELIMINARIES: (Prayer, Greetings, Checking of Attendance)
A. Reviewing 1. Prayer
previous 2. Checking attendance
lesson or presenting 3. Classroom Management
the
new lesson.
Priming Activity
B. Establishing a It’s good that most of you are familiar
purpose with it. Before we proceed to the game proper, I will
for the lesson be going to group the class into two which will be
named as Mathki-Baka and Mathsa-Goat group. I
will show you 4 pictures and you just need to
identify what the four set of pictures have in
common and you will guess what term it is. You will
write your answer in a cardboard and if you are
done, just perform the sound of your group. For the
Mathki-Baka group, perform the sound of a cow

while Mathsa-Goat group, perform the sound of a
goAsat
As the springboard of the lesson
1. How will you multiply function?
2. What is the law on exponent on the product?
C. Presenting Motivational Activity 4 pics I word as the springboard of the
examples/ lesson
instances of the new
lesson Before we proceed to the game proper, I will be going to group
the class two groups named as Mathki-Baka and Mathsa-
MOTIVATIONAL Goat group. I will be showing the 4 pictures and you just need
ACTIVITY to identify what the four sets of pictures have in common and
guess what term it is. Write your answer in a cardboard and if
you are done you just perform the sound of your group, Mathki-
Baka (the sound of the cow) and for Mathsa-Goat (the sound of
the Goat.

I will give 15 seconds to answer and wait for my signal to raise

your answer. Every correct answer is equivalent to 15 points.
Am I understood? Is everything clear
D. Discussing new As the springboard of the lesson
concepts and 1. Based on the activity that we had, are the words related to
practicing the topics discussed previously?
new skills #1 2. What are the things you need to remember on the operation
of functions?
ANALYSIS 3. What was our lesson last meeting?
4. How about on dividing function
E. Discussing new
concepts and
practicing
new skills #2

ABSTRACTION
(LECTURE
DISCUSSION)

2
F. Developing Let f and g be two function
mastery
(Leads to Formative
Assessment)
Example
ABSTRACTION f(x) = 2x2 + 5x – 23 ,
g(x) = x + 5 ** Divide the function
(LECTURE through long division
DISCUSSION)
Find : and synthetic division

G. Finding practical (Think, Pair and Share) Answer individually then share your
application of answer with pair
concepts  Divide the function
and skills in daily f(x) = 5x2 + 15x - 3 , through long division
living g(x) = x - 5 and synthetic division
APPLICATION Find :  Identify the dividend,
divisor, quotient and
remainder

H. Making Give two functions (any functions of your choice), and solve
generalizations and
abstractions about
the lesson for and compare your work with your
seatmates.

KO”
I. Evaluating learning Students are evaluated based on their individual outputs .
J. Additional activities Perform the operation
for f(x) = 5x5 – 3x4 + 4x3 - 2x2 + 3x – 3
application or g(x) = 2x2 + 3x – 3
