Core
(C)

Take note
C/B 1 is adjustable between 250A to 630A.
C/B 2 and 3 is adjustable between 160A to 250A.
Cable Selection Between A - B
 The single core cable is to be installed on cable ladder
and will be placed flat and touching.

 Option 1
(x2) 240mm2 Single core cable connected in parallel.
According to table 6.2 (a) the current carrying capacity: 504A.
1000A/2 = 500A
According to table 6.2(b) the voltage drop: 0.27mV/A/m
Voltage Drop= mV/A/m x I x L
= 0.27x10-3 x 500 x 5
= 0.675 V
For both cables, 0.675 x 2 = 1.35V

Option 2
(x3) 150mm2 Single core cable connected in parallel.
According to table 6.2 (a) the current carrying capacity: 369A.
1000A/3 = 333.333
According to table 6.2 (b) the voltage drop: 0.34mV/A/m
Voltage Drop= mV/A/m x I x L
= 0.34 x 10-3 x 333.333 x 5
=0.567 V
For three cables, 0.567 x 3 = 1.7V
Cable Selection Between B – C
 The SWA cable will be installed in a cable duct in the
ground.

Option 1
(x2) 240mm2 SWA cable connected in parallel.
According to table 6.8 the current carrying capacity: 344A.
630A/2 = 315A
According to table 6.4(b) the voltage drop: 0.21mV/A/m.
Voltage Drop= mV/A/m x I x L
= 0.21x10-3 x 315 x 30
= 1.98V
For both cables, 1.98 x 2 = 3.97V

 Option 2
(x3) 120mm2 SWA cable connected in parallel.
According to table 6.8 the current carrying capacity: 234A.
630A/3 = 210A
According to table 6.4(b) the voltage drop: 0.35mV/A/m.
Voltage Drop= mV/A/m x I x L
= 0.35 x 10-3 x 210 x 30
= 2.205V
For three cables, 2.205V x 3 = 6.615V
