Modern Forms of Communication
Modern communication is completely revolutionizing the
organizations. Nowadays information is exchanged by e-mail, fax,
voicemail, social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter,
LinkedIn etc. For conducting meetings teleconferencing and
videoconferencing is used. The following are the modern forms of
communication.

Intranet
Intranet is an intra-organizational communication network.
Intranet is used to communicate and share information’s among
employees of an organization.
Internet
Internet is “Network of Networks” that interlinks organization and
people. It is an information library which provides searching of all
possible topics and accessible to all users. The following are the uses
of Internet:

Website is a collection of related web pages containing images,
videos or other digital assets. Website can be accessed through
internet. Website becomes an essential part of every profession.
Website has a strong impact on the image of the company.
Websites provide information about firm’s product or services,
helps to buy products online, helps to maintain relationship between
buyer and seller.

by majority of users worldwide.

2. Service of an email is fast compared to traditional post
3. Emails can be sent 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
4. Emails can be sent and received from any computer, anywhere in the world
5. Cost effective method of communication
6. Emails can be sent to several peoples
7. Email is used for sending texts as well as images
8. Secure and reliable method to deliver message
9. Connecting with others
10. Environmental friendly as no there is no need for paper
Fax
Fax is the short name given for Facsimile. This public service tool
has gained popularity and images, diagrams etc. can be sent across the
globe within a very short time through fax.
Fax is used to transmit and receive documents and pictures. It is
possible to immediately send documents from one place to another
Disadvantages of Fax
• Safety of documents sent through fax is a major concern
• Faxing to a very distant place can be expensive
• More pages higher would be the bill
• Quality of transmission
Video Conferencing
Video conference allows people to see each other as well as hear
each other who are located at different places. It is a kind of group
communication. Meetings are held through video conferencing.
Advantages of Video Conferencing
• It is an alternative to physical face to face communication
• It enables live and real time communication
• Persons at different geographical locations can instantly see, hear
and share information with each other
• It is simple to organize meetings through video conferencing
• Firms can save cost by conducting meetings through video
