1 INTRODUCTION Actuality of the course work: The role of English language teachers has evolved significantly in the 21st century due to the increasing importance of English as a global lingua franca. This shift demands a high level of professional competence to meet diverse student needs, adapt to technological advancements, and implement modern pedagogical methods. Building professional competence ensures that English teachers are equipped to foster student success in a globalized, multilingual world. It also addresses challenges such as integrating cultural sensitivity, leveraging technology, and maintaining effective classroom management, which are pivotal in modern education. The aim of the course work is to explore strategies and frameworks for enhancing the professional competence of English language teachers. This includes understanding essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes required for effective teaching, examining the role of continuous professional development, and identifying innovative practices that support teacher growth. In accordance with main aim, we put following tasks to solve: 1. To define the core components of professional competence for English language teachers, including linguistic, pedagogical, and interpersonal skills. 2. To analyze the impact of teacher competence on student language learning outcomes. 3. To evaluate the role of professional development programs, workshops, and certifications in enhancing teaching quality. 4. To explore the integration of technology and digital tools in building teacher competence. 5. To examine case studies and best practices in teacher training and professional growth.
#### **Tasks** - Review existing literature on the professional development of English language teachers. 2 - Identify challenges faced by teachers in improving their professional competence. - Develop a framework or set of recommendations for teacher training and development. - Assess the effectiveness of various professional development approaches through qualitative and quantitative methods.
