Lesson Plan in online safety, security, ethics, and etiquette

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Recognize the dangers of the Internet;;
b. Apply online safety, security, ethics and etiquette standards and
practices;
I. Consider one’s and others safety when sharing information on the
net.

As a sort of review, the teacher will ask the following question to the class:

C. ABSTRACTION:
Lecturette on the Online Safety, Security, Ethics and Etiquette
Teacher will say, “Today we are going to discuss about applying online
safety, security, ethics and etiquette standards and practice but before we can
apply it we will tackle first different categories on how to use the internet. The
importance of this topic is that it will help us to be acquainted on how to use
the internet properly as well as the appropriate sites that you need to visit that
suit to your need while on the net.
It will also serve us a guide and help us to open our mind about to
become a responsible user of a social networking sites and browsing the
internet efficient and proper through proper referencing. And of course, for our
own security while we are on the net. Internet as a powerful tool, used to
promote business, gain new friends, and stay in touch with old ones. It can be
a source of entertainment through games, online communities and everything
in between. But most like things in the world, there is always the “other side of
the coin”. The internet is one of the most dangerous places, especially if you
don’t not know what you are doing with it.
Online Safety is one of the biggest concerns every parent has for their
children is to keep them safe, whether online or offline (At home, at school, at
play). Some new developments are making online safety easier and
improving offline safety as well.
The following are the tips to be safe online:
1. Internet security - is a tree branch of computer security specifically
related to the Internet, often involving browser security but also network
security on a more general level as it applies to other applications or operating
systems on a whole. Its objective is to establish rules and measures to use
against attacks over the Internet. The Internet represents an insecure channel
for exchanging information leading to a high risk of intrusion or fraud.
Online ethics refers to patterns of behavior used when on the Internet,
guided both by law and personal philosophy. The great capabilities of this
communication medium allow for the potential of great harm, cruelty, and
even crime. Major concerns in the field of online ethics include the protection
of private information, the limits of a presumed freedom of expression, and
issues of libel.
Internet Etiquette is online communication that makes everyone
comfortable. The internet is a group of computers that are connected,
etiquette is a social code. That is the technical definition of the words.
Combing the words into a term enables it to become a philosophy or part of
one.

legitimate, trustworthy source.
5. A malicious website that resembles a legitimate website, used to gather
usernames and passwords.
6. A type of scam that misleads the user in many ways attempting to take
lead of them.
7. A generic term for spyware and adware.
8. Commonly known as a “Trojan,” is a type of malware that disguises itself
as a normal file or program to trick users into downloading and installing
malware.
9. A malfunction on a computer system through its runtime.
10. The use of the internet or other electronic device to harass or stalk
individual, group or organization
