Topic: Some people feel that it is always wrong to keep animals in

captivity for instance in zoos other people say that there are benefits for the
animals and for humans.
Discuss both sides of this debate, and give your personal view.

There is a heated discussion whether animals should be held in captivity.

One group of people strongly disapprove of this idea others argue that it is
beneficial for both humans and for the animals as well.
On the one hand, Keeping animals in captivity would be wrong in
some cases because zoos provide an artificial environment for animals
which could affect them negatively. Firstly, some wild animals cannot adapt
to artificial environment because they used to live in social groups and they
should hunt for other animals which would not be in zoos. Secondly,
keeping animals in captivity can affect animal’s natural behavior. For
example, some animals should fight for prey and if they would not fight
their hormones would not work well and could negative affect their health
and behavior.

On the other hand, there are two main benefits of keeping animals in
zoos. First of all, zoos provide professional-run breeding programs and it
helps to maintain some rare animal’s generation. Second of all, not all wild
animals are kept in captivity, only some of them would be kept at zoos and
it helps to educate people to respect animals. One example can be that if
children learn and see how to save and care for animals in their early ages
then illegal poaching and hunting would decrease when they grew up.
In conclusion, there are some benefits of animals living in artificial
environment. From my point of view, I believe keeping animals in captivity
could have a positive effect, to save rare animals’ genes and to increase
respect of humans for wild animals.
