(Windows) Release Notes
This document contains a summary of the new features and installation details for Sentinel
SuperProTM version 7.1.
Overview
Sentinel SuperPro protects your applications from unauthorized use across both the stand-
alone and networked environments. The SuperPro software protection is empowered by a pro-
grammable hardware/software key that can encrypt data—providing you with a wide range of
methods for securing multiple applications per key.
Note: It is not supported to generate a simple software key without any locking criteria in this release.
Note: Sentinel Protection Server 7.6.0 or above is required to support software keys in network mode.
Unsupported Platforms
The following platforms are no longer supported by the Sentinel SuperPro version 7.1.0:
■ Windows 98
■ Windows ME
Sentinel SuperPro version 7.0.0 is the last release that supported Windows 98 and Windows
Me.
Support for Sentinel Protection Server on Windows 98 and Windows ME was removed from
Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.0. Sentinel Protection Installer 7.5.0 is the last release that
supported Sentinel Protection Server on Windows 98 and Windows ME.
■ Earlier, an error occurred on running the protected executable created by Visual Objects.
This was due to an issue on processing import functions. This issue has been fixed in this
release (WT83984).
■ Customized error messages were not displayed correctly on running the protected
application, if the error message contained certain characters. This issue has been fixed in
this release (WT84021).
■ Earlier, a memory leak was reported on running application that used a software key in
Visual Studio 2008. This issue has been fixed in this release (WT84058).
■ If the user first deselected some features on the Custom Setup screen but later preferred
to run the complete installation by using the Complete setup type, the deselected
features were not installed. This issue has been fixed in this release (Task 64870).
■ Earlier, the application returned different error codes when license code was applied twice
with One time update flag. This issue has been fixed in this release (Task 61785).
■ Earlier, CodeCover protected application used to throw an exception on Vista platform if
the security option for multi-layer level was set to 5. This issue has been fixed in this
release (WT 84044)
■ Earlier, Sentinel License Monitor was not displayed on Firefox if JRE version is 1.6.0_11 or
1.6.0_12. This issue has been fixed in this release (WT 83988)
■ Earlier, Sentinel License Monitor did not display license usage details page sometimes.
This issue has been fixed in this release (WT 83933)
■ Earlier, Sentinel Protection Installer fails to repair the driver installation after Windows
Internet Explorer 8 is installed. This issue has been fixed in this release (WT 84095)
■ Earlier, RNBOsproFindFirstUnit might return the error code
SP_NO_LICENSE_AVAILABLE (70) in driver access mode while SuperPro key is present.
This issue has been fixed in this release (WT 84098)
Known Issues
■ License is not released when only .NET dlls are protected using Sentinel CodeCover.
■ Standard users cannot modify/uninstall Sentinel SuperPro 7.1.0 from the Control Panel
using the Change/Remove option on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista
systems. Only an administrator is allowed to modify/uninstall Sentinel SuperPro 7.1.0
using these options (Task 63619).
■ SuperPro Toolkit does not support JIS X 0212 (supplementary Japanese graphic)
character set. Before using a localized character set, please contact SafeNet to find out
whether it is supported or not (Task 62886).
■ The CodeCover-protected .NET executable may not work properly if the metadata in the
.NET executable is required for running the application. It is because that the metadata is
removed from the .NET executable due to a security reason (WT 83524).
