    DEMOCRACY

    Basic Understanding:
     Literally, “rule of people”: power is vested in the hands of people.
     Term is derived from Greek “Demokratia”, demos (people) and kratos (rule).
     Introduced in the mid of 5th century BCE.
     In democratic system citizens have the authority to make decisions of government
    typically through voting free and fair elections.
    The etymological origins of the term “Democracy” founds a number of crucial problems that go
    far beyond semantic issues. If a democratic government is to be established, at least five
    fundamental questions must be answered and two more can be posed if the democracy continues
    to exist long.
