1.What is outcome based education? Outcome-based education (OBE) is education in which an emphasis is placed on a clearly articulated idea of what students are expected to know and be able to do, that is, what skills and knowledge they need to have, when they leave the school system. 2. Four basic principle of OBE The four essential principles of Outcome-Based Education are clarity of focus, design down, high expectations, and expanded opportunities. 3. Why shift to OBE? This shift minimizes the focus on rote memorization and encourages students to develop higher-order thinking skills and apply knowledge in practical contexts. 4. How to adopt OBE? Step that should be followed in adoption of Outcome-Based Education: 1. Understanding OBE: Be acquainted with the principles of OBE, taking in clear, measurable learning outcomes. 2. Definition of learning outcomes: With goals established as clear and attainable, define what the learner should be able to know or do. 3. Curriculum design: Design curriculum program bearing in mind the outcomes and lay down sequenced content presentation. 4. Assessments: Develop assessments that measure student progress toward the outcomes, providing regular feedback. 5. Organization of Teaching Strategies: Base your teaching strategies on activity and learner- centered strategies in such a way that the intended outcomes will be realized. 6. Monitor and Evaluation: Ongoing monitoring of students and evaluation of the success of the OBE model; revise according. 7. Reflection and Refinement: Ongoing enhancement/regular refinement for the curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment using feedback and performance. 8. Development of Professional Educators: Preparation of educators in the OBE principles and strategies to fully implement the curriculum. 9. Engage Stakeholders: Inform and involve the students, parents, and other stakeholders in the OBE process. 10. Document and Share: Document and share successfully demonstrated practices and experiences to support continual development and adoption of OBE.
