the most popular answer to a question. The winning team guesses all the answers on the board to
earn points, while the other team can steal points if the answers aren't all guessed. The team with
the most points at the end of the game wins.

II. Introduction of New Materials

The Elements of Plot (Lesson Proper)

1. Character

What is Character?

A character is a person or other being in a narrative. The character may be entirely fictional or
based on a real-life person, in which case the distinction of a "fictional" versus "real" character
may be made.

Who are the characters in the story of "The Wolf and The Kid" that was provided?

2. Setting

What do you think is a setting?

The setting of the story is the location where the action takes place. Most stories have more than
one setting.

Where does the action occur in the tale "The Wolf and The Kid"?

3. Plot Structure

What is a plot structure?

A key feature of a plot is that it must follow a logical structure with a beginning, middle, and
end. These are the basics of a plot structure, but it is more complicated than that. Every plot must
contain these five elements in this exact order:

4. Exposition or Introduction

What is Exposition?

This part of the plot is responsible for introducing and establishing the main characters
and the setting of the story. This is essential for the reader’s understanding of the story.

Can you pinpoint the exposition in the tale of "The Wolf and The Kid"?

5. Rising Action

What is rising action and how can you identify the rising action in the story?

If the primary conflict is not introduced in the exposition stage, it is introduced here, in
the rising action part of the plot. If the conflict has already been introduced, it is built
upon in this rising action stage in order to build tension within the story and the reader.
Can you point out the events leading up to the rising action in "The Wolf and The Kid"?

6. Climax or Turning Point

What is a Climax? And give at least 1 example.

The climax is the part of the plot that everything has been building towards. The climax or the
turning point of the plot is often the most exciting and important part of the story. The choices
and events that occur in this part of the plot will affect how the rest of the story plays out.

What is the main turning point in "The Wolf and The Kid" story?

7. Falling Action

The falling action is the part of the plot that follows the climax. At this point in the story, after
the main conflict has been addressed, the tension is starting to decrease. The reader knows the
results and consequences of the climax, so a lot of the big, looming questions in the story have
been answered.

Locate the falling action in the story of "The Wolf and The Kid".
8. Resolution or Dénouement

What is a Resolution?

The resolution or dénouement is the final stage in the plot. This is the conclusion, where
everything in the story is wrapped up and a new sense of normalcy is established for the
characters. At this point in the story, the primary conflict has been fully resolved, the loose ends
have been tied up, and the reader is given closure about the narrative.

Can you point out the resolution in the tale of "The Wolf and The Kid"?
