Range of hearing

The audible range of sound of human being extends from

about 20Hz to 20kHz.

But children under the age of five and some animals, such
as dogs can hear up to 25kHz.
Application of Ultrasound
Ultrasound is used to clean parts located in hard to reach places. Examples, spiral tubes,
odd shaped parts, etc. The object is dipped in a solution of suitable cleaning material and
ultrasonic waves are passed into it.

It can be used to detect cracks and flaws in metal blocks.

In the electrocardiography process, the ultrasonic waves are used to form an image of
the heart using reflection and detection of these waves from various parts.

Ultrasonic waves are used to break stones in the kidney. High energy sound waves are
passed through the body without injuring it and break the stone into small pieces. These
small pieces move through the urinary tract and out of the body more easily than a large
stone.
Ultrasonic scanner is an instrument which uses ultrasonic waves for getting images of
internal organ of the human body.
