1. Introduction

The initiative focuses on enhancing civic participation by empowering

underprivileged communities through education on hygiene, cleanliness, and
practical methods. It aims to foster responsibility and awareness, addressing
immediate health concerns while encouraging individuals to take ownership of
their well-being. Through collaboration and active involvement, the goal is to
create a lasting social impact, improving the overall health and quality of life
within these communities.

2. Objectives

A community engagement program focused on teaching and playing with school children
aims to enhance education, foster social connections, and support personal development.
Educationally, it supplements school learning, encourages skill development, and broadens
children's knowledge. Socially, it builds relationships, promotes community spirit, and
develops social skills like teamwork and communication. In terms of personal growth, it
boosts children's confidence, inspires creativity, and fosters a love of learning. Together,
these objectives positively impact both the children and the wider community.

Weekly "Learning through Play" sessions organized at a local school

-Volunteers teach subjects like math or science using interactive games and creative
activities (e.g., puzzles, group challenges)

- Team-based sports and arts & crafts are included to promote social skill development and
creativity

- Reinforces classroom learning while making education fun and engaging

- Boosts children's confidence by providing opportunities for participation and success

- Fosters a sense of community and belonging among the children

- Identify barriers preventing school attendance (financial, social, logistical).

- Track effectiveness of proposed solutions (e.g., low-cost schooling options).

6. Conclusion

Phase I of the community engagement project played a crucial role in laying the
foundation for long-term impact within the slum area. By focusing on outreach,
building trust, and creating awareness among children and their families, we
successfully established the importance of education and empowerment. This
phase allowed us to connect directly with the community, identify key
stakeholders, and foster meaningful relationships, all of which are essential for the
success of future phases.
