DARWIN
•Darwin is the capital city of Northern
Territory. With the population of 1,39,902
the city contains most of the mostly
populated Northern Territory's residents.
•It is the smallest, wettest and most
northerly of the Australian capital cities
and serves as the Top End's regional
centre.
•Darwin's proximity to Southeast Asia
makes it a key link between Australia and
other countries such as Indonesia and
East Timor.
•The Stuart Highway begins in Darwin and
extends southerly across Central Australia
through Tennant Creek and Alice Springs
concluding in Port Augusta, South
Australia.
CAIRNS
•Cairns is the tropical paradise where the
rainforests meets the reef and is the only
place in the world heritage-listed sites can
be found side -by-side.
•Cairns is a popular travel destination for
both students and tourists as it is
surrounded by the many attractions that
Far North Queensland has to offer.
•This city is located on the east coast of
Cape York Peninsula on a costal strip
between the Coral Sea and the Eastern
Highlands.
•This city was founded in 1876 and
named after Sir William Wellington
Cairns, following the discovery of gold in
Hodgkinson river.
BRISBANE
•Brisbane is the capital city of
Queensland with a population of nearly
2.2 million and is the third most populous
city in Australia.
•Brisbane is Australia's New World City
and it is very culturally diverse.It is one of
the major business hubs in the country.
•The beautiful parklands, scenic lookouts,
bustling local markets and vibrant
waterslide districts make this city special.
•Brisbane lies at the centre of South East
Queensland.It is the third biggest city in
Australia.
SYDNEY
• Sydney is the capital of the state New
South Wales. It is located on Australia's
South Eastern coast.
•Sydney is the largest city of Australia and
has magnificent harbour and strategic
position. It is one of the most important
ports in the South Pacific.
•The yacht - studded harbour , superb
beaches, and the iconic Opera House with
its towering Sail structure make Sydney a
special city.
• Sydney has one of the longest bridges in
the world. Sydney has the largest natural
harbour in the world.
CANBERRA
•Canberra is the federal capital city of
Australia. It occupies part of the Australian
capital territory in South Eastern Australia
and is about 240 km south west of
Sydney.
• The name "Canberra" means " meeting
place " in the language of the Indigenous
Ngnnawal people. Canberra is also known
for its planned layout and specious design.
•This city is also home to Australia's
Parliament house and also home for
national institutions and various museums
and galleries .
• This city has the population of 472,000 .
It is surrounded by new South Wales. It
lies astride the Mongolo river.
TASMANIA
•Tasmania the island of Tasmania
contains some of the most
spectacular mountains, lakes and
costal scenery in the country.
•Besides natural beauty ,
Tasmania is also rich in food
speciality, like Leatherwood
honey and Black truffles etc.
•Tasmania also it is rich in major
commodities are extracted, like
coal, zinc,ultra high purity silica
flour.
GEELONG
• Geelong has a stunning waterfront,
whimsical bollards, landscapes botanical
gardens etc.
• Geelong is also known as "Gateway
City" due to its critical location to
surrounding western Victorian region.
• In Central Geelong people speak
Wadawurrung language is all around the
streets like Moorabool, Corio,
Gheringhap.
• The Geelong Gallery is a major
regional gallery in the city of Geelong .
The gallery has 6,000 works of art in
collection.
HOBART
•Hobart boasts a rich cultural and
natural landscape.
•Hobart is one of the only major cities
where we can see the southern lights
year around.
•The etymology of the name of Hobart
comes from the first Lieutenant-Governer
of Van Diemen's land, David Collins.
•The Jewel in nipaluna/Hobart's crown,
Kunanyi/Mount Wellington, is an amazing
natural wonder accessible to all.
•Constitution Dock is the harbour-side
dock area of Hobart on the Derwent
River.
PERTH
•With eight hours of sunshine each
day,Perth is officially sunniest capital of
Australia.
•Perth City is located in the ancient
country of the Whadjuk Nyoongar
people who have been the traditional
owners for at least 45,000 years!
•Quokkas are small and very cute
marsupial that live just off the coast of
Perth on Rottnest Island.
•You may have heard Perth as City of
light.
•St Mary's Cathedral officially the
Cathedral of the Immacuble
Conception of blessed Virgin Mary.
MELBOURNE
•The Great Ocean Road is an
Australian National Heritage
listed 240km stretch of road
along the south eastern coast
of Australia.
•The Melbourne Cricket Ground
is regarded as Australia's
premier sporting venue.
•Puffing Billy is Australia's
premier preserved steam
railway.It is located in the heart
of Dandenog Ranges and only
one hour east of Melbourne.
