CYBERSECURITY AWARENESS SEMINAR

Bringing together the Student Council Officers from each College


Department, the cybersecurity Awareness Seminar took place on March 21,
2024 at the UL Multipurpose Hall, organized by the College of Computer
Studies. This event aimed to equip the student leaders with essential
knowledge to navigate the digital world safely.
The Seminar started by explaining the different common cyber threats like
viruses, scams and hacking. Attendees learned how to recognized these
dangers and protect themselves and their peers. Experts also shared simple
ways to protect digital devices, like using strong passwords and updating
software regularly. The officers left knowing how to better defend their
departments digital information. The Seminar also covered the importance of
keeping personal and sensitive data safe. Officers learned about privacy laws
and their role in upholding them to protect their peer’s information.
Lastly the seminar addressed social engineering, who were people are
tricked into giving away their personal information. Through examples and
discussions, Officers learned to spot and avoid these traps. The Seminar left
the students Council Officers feeling more confident in their ability to keep
themselves and their peer safe online. They were ready to share what they
learned and promote cybersecurity within their departments
