Network Design Assignment

Objective:
Design a network that connects multiple devices using 1 router, 2 switches, and 6
computers.
The network includes VLANs to improve network segmentation and security.

Scenario:
You are tasked with creating a network for a small office. The office has two departments,
Sales and Marketing, and each has three computers.

Network Components:
Router: Connects the local network to the internet.
Switches: Provide connectivity within each department.
Computers: Devices used by employees.

Requirements:
• Cable the network according to the provided topology diagram
• Label each component (router, switches, and computers).
• Specify IP addresses for each device (Use any valid IP within the private IP range).
• Configure Basic Device Settings
• Configure port duplex and speed settings.
• Verify the Default Router / Switch and PC Configuration
• Verify Connectivity

• Limit the number of valid MAC addresses allowed on switch ports.


• Configure and Verify SSH Access on devices such that it provides encrypted
management connections to a remote device.
• Secure the router to protect your network from potential threats.
• Verify the status of the interfaces
• Test end-to-end connectivity with ping.

VLAN Configuration:
• Computers in the Sales department must belong to VLAN 10.
• Computers in the Marketing department must belong to VLAN 20.
• Test end-to-end connectivity with ping.

Submission:
You must submit:
1. A Word document report explaining how communication flows between the devices
using the command show and ping.
2. A Cisco Packet Tracer file with your network topology, that clearly shows the
configuration and communication paths

3. Write small research (Word file – 1 page) about the network security audit and
attack tools.
Explanation:
Choose one topic from Audit tools and one topic from Attack tools
Examples:
Audit tools: Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA), NMAP,Sourceforge Network
Security Analysis Tool (NSAT), Solarwinds Engineering Toolset.
Attack tools: L0phtcrack, Cain and Abel, John the Ripper, Netcat, THC Hydra,
Chkrootkit, DSniff, Nessus, AirSnort, AirCrack, WEPCrack.
