    Sokalan® PM 15 I – Antiscalant for thermal seawater desalination

    In operating multi-stage flash (MSF) or multi-effect distillation (MED), scaling of heat transfer surfaces is an
    issue and affects the performance of the thermal desalination process. Salts of particular concern in seawater
    desalination are calcium carbonate (CaCO3), magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2), and calcium sulfate (CaSO4). In
    order to ensure the production of desalinated water, the dosage of the Sokalan® PM 15 I is the solution:

     Functions as well as scale control dispersant  Longer operation time


     Outstanding scale-inhibiting performance  Higher output
     Smooth operation also at high temperature  Reduced production cost
     Reduced dosage rate  NSF/ANSI 60 and KIWA certified for drinking
    water application

    Foaming occurs quite often in a desalination process.
