1. Find the centre of gravity of a 100 mm × 150 mm × 30 mm T-section.

2. An I-section has the following dimensions in mm units:

Bottom flange = 300 × 100
Top flange = 150 × 50
Web = 300 × 50
Determine mathematically the position of centre of gravity of the section.

3. A uniform lamina shown in Fig. below consists of a rectangle, a circle and a triangle.
Determine the centre of gravity of the lamina. All dimensions are in mm.

4. A plane lamina of 220 mm radius is shown in figure given below. Find the centre of gravity of
lamina from the point O.

5. Find the position of the centre of gravity of an unequal angle section 10 cm × 16 cm × 2cm.
6. A semicircle of 90 mm radius is cut out from a trapezium as shown in Fig. below. Find the
position of the centre of gravity of the figure.
7. Find the moment of inertia of a hollow rectangular section about its centre of gravity if the
external dimensions are breadth 60 mm, depth 80 mm and internal dimensions are breadth
30 mm and depth 40 mm respectively.
8. A hollow triangular section shown in Fig. below is symmetrical about its vertical axis. Find the
moment of inertia of the section about the base BC.

9. Figure below shows an area ABCDEF. Compute the moment of inertia of the above area
about axis K-K.

10. Find the moment of inertia of a T-section with flange as 150 mm × 50 mm and web as 150
mm × 50 mm about X-X and Y-Y axes through the centre of gravity of the section.
11. Find the moment of inertia about the centroidal X-X and Y-Y axes of the angle section shown
in Fig.

12. Figure below shows the cross-section of a cast iron beam. Determine the moments of inertia
of the section about horizontal and vertical axes passing through the centroid of the section.
13. A rectangular hole is made in a triangular section as shown in Fig. below. Determine the
moment of inertia of the section about X-X axis passing through its centre of gravity and the
base BC.
