Create Critical Activity Indicator in Primavera P6


Using a combination of “Global Change” and "Indicators", you can graphically show the critical
activities in the schedule with an indicator. This powerful approach facilitates effective project
management, helping project managers and teams identify and prioritize tasks that are essential to
project success.

Follow these steps:

1. Create a User-defined Field


Name the title “Critical Indicator” and the data type“Indicator”.

2. Set up as a column in a Layout


From “Columns” at “User-Defined”, choose “ Critical indicator”.

3. Create and Execute a Global Change


Global Change is a concept in project management that allows for adjustments to be made
across the entire project schedule, affecting multiple tasks and activities. When combined
with the use of indicators, which are visuals or markers representing specific project
elements, project managers gain a powerful tool for assessing the critical path and ensuring
the project stays on track.
