developing and using strategic questions to identify strengths and
weaknesses.

 Who is the source of the messages, and are they reliable and
trustworthy?

INTRODUCTION ON HOW TO
↑EVALUATE MESSAGES/IMAGES↑
Evaluating messages and images across different cultures is a crucial
skill in today’s interconnected world. It helps us understand diverse
perspective, avoid misunderstandings, and appreciate the richness of global
communication. To effectively evaluate such messages, we need to consider
several key factors:
1. Recognizing Cultural Context

A. Language

- Language is more than just a words, it carries cultural nuances,

idioms, and unspoken meanings. A direct translation might not capture the
intended message. (give sample/s)

B. Symbols and Icons

- What’s considered positive in one culture might be negative in

another. A symbol like a hand gesture, a color, or an animal can have
vastly different interpretations. (give sample/s)

C. Non-verbal Communication

- Gestures, facial expressions, and body language can vary

significantly. (give sample/s)

2. Understanding Cultural Texts

A. Cultural Texts

- Anything that communicates meaning within a culture can be

considered a cultural text. This includes not just written and spoken language
but also images, artifacts, clothing food and even architecture.

B. Decoding meaning

- To understand a cultural text, we need to decode its meaning within

the context of that culture. For example, a traditional dance might not just
be about entertainment, it could convey stories, rituals, or social values.

To Evaluate messages and images of different types of text reflecting

different culture the following should do:

1) Understand how the specified cultures live.

2) How the people in the specified group communicate each other.
3) Be aware in every detail such as artifact, language and symbolism
and Icons.
