Question 1 [1, 1, 1 = 3 Marks]


A group of students were surveyed on two questions:
“Who owns a TV?” and “Who rides a bicycle?”.

Write the names of the students who:

a) own a TV?

b) owns a TV and ride a bicycle?

c) do not ride a bicycle?


Question 2 [2, 1, 1, 1 = 5 Marks]

A survey was conducted at a local motorsport racing club. The survey wanted to
investigate two key features of the clubs racing cars.

Mr Coveney has a class of 27 students and asked them if they use TikTok and/or
BeReal.
● 17 students said they use TikTok.
● 12 students said they use BeReal.
● 8 students said they use both TikTok and BeReal.

Mr Ryan has been out trick or treating and has come home to eat the candy he
collected throughout the night. He has 3 items left in his bag: a chocolate, a lollipop,
and a box of raisins.

He can only pick 2 items out of the bag.

a) Using the space below, construct a tree diagram without replacement.


List all possible outcomes.

b) Determine the probability that Mr Ryan will randomly select a lollipop with his
first pick and a chocolate with his second pick.

c) Mr Ryan does not want to select the box of raisins, as he hates raisins.
Determine the probability that Mr Ryan will not randomly select the box of
raisins.

Mr Pryer’s class and Miss Munro’s class collected data of their students’ phone
battery percentage in Period 5. The results are below.

a) Complete a back-to-back stem & leaf plot using the data above.
