AWS Migration Evaluator


On-demand training
Migration Evaluator Overview
In this 30-minute course, you will learn how to position the value of Migration Evaluator (ME) to your
customers, and communicate the engagement model and data collection methodologies. This course will
walk you through ME deliverables and show how you can use them to qualify your customers for AWS
incentives and programs including the Optimization and Licensing Assessment Program (OLA) and the
Migration Acceleration Program (MAP). Click here to access the training.

In this 30-minute course, you will learn about the features of ME deliverables (including our Quick Insights
PDF, Quick Insights detailed export, and the directional business case) and how to present these

Deep Dive into Collection Methodologies


In this 30-minute course, you will learn about the collection end points, how data is transferred, where our
systems are hosted, our classifications of servers based on time in use, and how our algorithms work to
find optimal results for your customers. We will show you how to download and install the agentless

Installing our Agentless Collector


Learn how to install ME’s agentless collector including how to configure collection from VMware, bare

Integration with AWS Migration Hub


ME integrates the discovery of on-premises resources used for our business case with AWS Migration Hub's
Network Visualization service. By collecting network Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connections, you
can identify server-to-server dependencies. AWS Migration Hub provides a central location to collect
server and application inventory data for the assessment, planning, and tracking of migrations to AWS.

Requesting a Migration Evaluator assessment


AWS Partners can directly request a Migration Evaluator assessment through the AWS Partner Portal. For
step-by-step instructions, download the ACE Opportunity Cheat Sheet for Migration Assessments. The ME
team will provide access to the ME Console within 1 business day of submission. You will receive an
invitation email from [email protected] to access the ME Console. From the console, you can
download the ME software to install the collector or upload existing data.

What to expect during an assessment


You will receive an email from the ME Engagement Management (EM) team introducing you to your
assigned ME Solutions Architect (SA) or AWS Licensing Delivery Partner (LDP), who will guide you through
your engagement. If you need assistance during the course of the installation, contact your assigned SA
(or LDP). For general support, email [email protected].

Roles and Responsibilities

AWS Partners

• Position ME to your customers and receive buy-in from stakeholders.

• Submit request for a Migration Evaluator assessment through the AWS Partner Portal following our
ACE Opportunity Cheat Sheet for Migration Assessments.
• If using the ME agentless collector for data collection, install or assist the customer with the installation
and configuration.

• If using existing customer data, format into our ME Data Import Template, available on our AWS
product page, and upload into the ME Console.

If any assistance is required during installation or with presenting results to your customer, contact your
assigned ME SA or LDP or email [email protected]. Note: ME supports the escalation of
installation issues, not including network configuration.

Migration Evaluator Team

• Provides access to the ME Console.

• Introduces assigned ME SA or LDP to guide you through the engagement.

• Works with you to confirm receipt of data, desired collection period, and purchase plans to use in the
business case.

• Layers in business data for environment and/or application groupings if provided.

• Provides a directional business case.
