B: Sure,what’s up
A : I was absent from last lesson. I wasn’t feeling well
and had to stay home. Therefore, I didn’t know what did
homework include on yesterday, you can tell me about
it?
B : Ok. Basically, English teacher gave us homework
about tenses, we will correct the verbs and fill it into
the blank. Does that make sense?
A : Sorry … I don’t get you, can you repeat ??
B : What I mean is we will change verbs from the
present tense to the past tense .For example do -> did ,
go -> went, have -> had..See what i mean ??
A: Oh….got it.By the way, anything else ??
B : yes, we two more math and literature exercises.
A : what do we need to do?
B : For Math we need to finish a revision 2 on the
workbook. Beside that, make a reflection for deskmate
poem.
A : hmm….ok ok, wow . When do we submit these
assignments?
B : On the Friday in next week.
A : Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help.
B : You welcom.
2. Your friend wants to make a dish for his/her
family and asks you for instructions. Show
him/her how to make it.
A: Hi B, can i get a minutes
B: sure
A: I want to cook something for my family tonight.Do
you have any ideas?
B : How about a simple spaghetti carbonara?
A : hmm…My family don’t love spaghetti , anything else
??
B : How about a yummy beef stir-fry with veggies?
A : Sounds good! Can you tell me how to do?
B : Of course! First, gather your ingredients :beef,
veggies like peppers and carrots, garlic, soy sauce,
cornstarch, ginger, and oil.
A : Got it. What's first?
B : Slice beef thin, then marinate it with soy sauce,
garlic, ginger, and cornstarch for about 15 to 20
minutes.
A : With salt, garlic, ginger ?? Is that right ??
B : no, with soy sauce, garlic, ginger and cornstarch.
A : oh got it…then what ???
B : Cut veggies into bite-sized pieces. Heat a pan with a
bit of oil then add the marinated beef and cook until it's
mid- well.Then add your veggies and toss it together.
A : That sounds delicious! Thanks for the suggestion. I
think my family will love it!
3. A hotel guest is complaining about some
problems in his/her hotel room. Express your
concerns and offer solutions.
A : Hey, hotel reception, I want to talk with the
manager. There is a lot of mess in my room.
B : I very sorry about that. What’s the problem?
A: The first problem was that there seems to be a
problem with the light bulb in my room. Look, it doesn’t
work even in bathroom!
B: Oh dear.., I’m sorry to hear that. We'll have our
maintenance team take a look at it right now.
A : Then it has many of trash under the bed which
haven’t been cleaned before I come. I don’t want to
make a fuss but it let me down.
B : I'm so sorry we let you down. I'll send someone to
clean it up right now. We will change a new room for
you if you want.
A : No, I don’t need to change the room. Please send
your staff to cleaned up this mess as quickly as
possible because I'm very tired.
B : Sure, thank you for your feedback, And please let us
know if there's anything else we can do to improve your
experience.
A : Alright, thank you for your assistance. I appreciate
your help!

4. Your friend did not get good marks for


his/her periodic test. Express your sympathy,
show encouragement, and offer some good
advice on how he/she can perform better.
A : You look sad, what's wrong ??
B : I got my test back, and it's not good.
A : Oh dear… I'm sorry to hear that.
B : I'm very disappointed in myself. I just feel like I
studied so much, and I still blew it.
A: That’s totally understandable. I know how hard
you've been studying. Maybe you can tell me a little
more how you prepared for the test.
B:Sure, Well I spent the most of time to reread my note
and did some revisions.
A: Why don’t you try to change study strategies for
next time. For example: You can use a mind map
instead of reading your note. And using online quizzes
to test yourself.
B: Yeah, those sound a good ideas.
A : Everything will be okay, don’t worry about that. Also
don’t forget to take breaks while you are studying.You
will get a high score on the next test, I know you can do
better so don't be sad anymore, cheer up!!!
B : Thanks, I appreciate it.
5. You missed your best friend’s birthday party.
Make an apology, explain the situation, and offer
compensation to him/her.
A : Hi, I really need to talk to you about something
important.
B : Sure, what's on your mind?
A : I wanted to apologize for missing your birthday
party.
B : Yeah, I was a bit disappointed when I didn't see you
there. What‘s happened?
A : I had intention of coming, but unfortunately, I got
sick unexpectedly. I woke up feeling terrible, and I
couldn't leave the bed. I terribly sorry.
B : Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. Are you feeling better
now?
A : I'm feeling much better now. But I still really regret
it.
B : Don’t worry, health comes first.
A : I appreciate your understanding. However, I want to
make it up to you. How about watching movie tonight?
We can watch all your favorite films and have dinner
together.
B :Apology accepted. That sounds like a lot of fun! I'd
love that.
A : Great! And I'll also get you a little something as a
late birthday gift.
B : You really don't have to.
A : Not a problem. I promise to make up for you and
celebrate your birthday.
B : Looking forward to it! And don't worry about missing
the party, your health is the most important.
A : Thanks for understanding. You're the best!
6. You and your friend share the same room,
but he/she often plays music too loud and never
seems to help to tidy the room. Let him/her know
how you feel and compromise with him/her on
how to deal with the problems.
A: Hey, can we talk about our room for a minute?

B: Sure, what's up?

A: I've been wanting to talk to you about a


couple of things. Lately, the music has been
really loud sometimes, especially when I'm trying
to study or sleep.

B: Oh, sorry about that. I didn't realize it was


bothering you.

A: That's okay, but you should use headphones


more often, or keep the volume lower at night?

B: Yeah, that's a good idea. I can do that.

A: Great! Also, the room seems to get pretty


messy sometimes. Why don’t we come up with a
weekly schedule to keep things tidier?

B: Yeah, for sure. What did you have in mind?

A: Well, we could take turns taking out the trash


and vacuuming. We will set aside some hours if
we clean it up together.

B: I like that idea. How about we clean on


Mondays before dinner?

A: That a good plan

B: And hey, if I forget to use headphones or the


room gets messy on my turn, just let me know.

A:That sound great. Thanks for listening to me!

B: No problem! Thanks for talking to me about


it.Tell me if you need anything.
7. Your friend was not satisfied with his/her
presentation in class today. Express your
sympathy, show encouragement, and offer some

A: Hey,what’s wrong. Why you look so sad?
B: I just finished my presentation. It was bad. I
felt like I rushed through the most important part
and maybe didn't explain things clearly. I feel so
stupid.
A: I know how you feel. But hey, presentations
can be tough, even for the best of us. Cheer up,
It’s not the end of the world.

B: Thanks. I was really nervous and forgot


everything I practiced.

A: I can imagine. Maybe next time try timing


yourself before presentation. That way help you
make sure that you cover everything without
feeling rushed.

B: That's a good idea! Maybe some visuals would


help too? My slides have too much words.

A: Definitely! Pictures, graphs, even short videos


should be included in your slides.

B: True. I might have relied on too much word


and talking.
A: And remember, practicing in front of someone
before your presentation can be a lifesaver. It
helps you get comfortable and more
confidence.By the way, I need to present on
Friday .How about we grab coffee tomorrow and
you run through it for me?

B: Really? That would be amazing! Thanks, I feel


a lot better already.

8. You and your brother/sister were arranging a


surprise party for your mother. Confirm the plan
and make slight changes if necessary.
A: Hey sis, on this day next week is mom
birthday. Why don’t we surprise her with a party.
B: Sure. Why not. Do you have any ideas?
A: For a party, we can buy her a cake. She is a
flower lover. Therefore, I am going to buy for her
flowers.
B: That sounds great. And also I will invite her
friends and our family to come.
A: That sounds great. And don’t forget to call
Dad and see if he can pick up the cake after
work.
B: Do you remember what kind of cake did she
want?
A: The tiramisu one from her favorite bakery.
B: Alright, I'll call Dad and see if he can pick it up after work.
A: Have you figured out decoration for a party
yet?
B: How about a simple decoration with balloons
and candles.

A: That good. What time are we aiming for?

B: I think 5 pm?

A: Let's say 7:00 pm. That way everyone has time to get off work
and get ready.

B: That a good plan. We should come up with a good reason to


get Mom out of the house around that time.

A: Hmm... maybe we can tell her to go for a walk with Dad, or say
we need help picking something up from the store?

B: Yeah,I think those things could work. Alright, I think we've


got everything covered. This is going to be a great surprise for
Mom!

9. Your friend is introverted and does not feel


comfortable with other classmates. Listen to

came to school for a few days.
B: Yeah, I have just come here for few days.
A: Where did you transfer from?
B: A smaller school from north. Everything feels
so different here.
A: How have you been?
B: I’m quite good. However, I have some trouble
making new friends.

B: Everyone seems to know each other already.
A: I know how you feel. New school can be a shock. We were all
newbies once, right? You just need to find your people.
B: But I think I can’t find my people. I feel like they are
unfriendly classmate. Everyone seems to have their own groups.I
can’t get along with them.
A: Oh dear, we're always open to making new friends! Stay
positive!
B:However, I still feel uncomfortable.
A: Try not to worry. Most of our classmates are super nice . You
should open your heart. For sure they will receive that.

A: Hi, manager. I am interested in joining a club
at the university.
B: Sure, I can help you with that, we have a lot of
club. Have you referred to any club yet?
A: I have referred to WARMHUG club, English
club, Dance club.
B: What are you interested in?
A: I’m not sure, I would like to make new friends,
explore more activities beside studying and help
more people.
B: Why don’t you join a dance club. It is very
interesting. You can meet new friends and start
dancing. Dancing also helps you relief stress
after studying hours.
A: However, I don’t think I can dance, and I don’t
love dancing.
B: How about joining English club. You can
improve your English skills and communicate to
many people.
A: I think that not my point. I’d like to join a club
where I can do more volunteer activities.
B: Oh I see. WARMHUGS club will be a good place
for you. The club has a lot of volunteer activities
where you can share your loves to other people.
A: That sound great. By the way, how can I join a
club.
B:Oh you just need to fill out the gg form. Then
they will send you an email if you get pass.
