SD-WAN FUNDAMENTALS
ARUBA SOFTWARE DEFINED BRANCH WORKSHOP
OBJECTIVE
At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to implement the fundamentals of an Aruba SD-Branch solution.
SUMMARY
Modality: Webinar with remote access to HPE Virtual Labs
Duration: 4 hours
OVERVIEW
Scenario
While the role of the traditional router has reliably served distributed enterprises for decades, many IT organizations are looking for a
new solution that takes advantage of today’s broadband connection alternatives. The Aruba Branch Gateway offers organizations a
reliable, high performance option that supports broadband, MPLS, and LTE WAN connections. From a routing standpoint, this provides IT
with greater insight into the traffic flowing in and out of each branch, regardless of the uplink. An Aruba headend gateway is needed for
VPN concentrator (VPNC) termination in hub-and-spoke topologies for IPsec VPN tunnels, and in data center and campus routing
scenarios. Aruba virtual gateways are deployed in public cloud infrastructures, such as an Amazon Web Services virtual private cloud
(AWS VPC) or Microsoft Azure Virtual Network (VNet). These gateways serve as a virtual instance of a headend gateway to enable
seamless and secure connectivity for all branch and data center locations connecting to public clouds.

Workshop
This workshop is a lab activity that will allow attendees to setup an SD-Branch Gateway, configure underlay routing, Overlay Tunnel
Orchestrator, Overlay Route Orchestrator, Policy Based Routing and Dynamic Path Selection.
Route Orchestrator
VPNC
Attendees will start by setting up a Branch GatewayGgroup and provision a Gateway in Aruba Central. The student will then perform
basic System, LAN, WAN, Routing, SD-WAN and Firewall policies using the Guided Setup wizard. Then, they will perform more advanced
configuration with the Overlay Tunnel Orchestrator to establish VPN tunnels between the branch and the Data Center. Next they will
leverage the Overlay Route Orchestrator to automatically exchange routes between the Data Center and Branches. Finally, they will
configure Policy Based Routing and Dynamic Path Selection to implement ZScaler and SASS Express.
