4. A computer operator, while calculating correlation coefficient between two variables


𝑥 and 𝑦 from 20 pairs of observations obtained the following results.
𝑛 = 20, ∑𝑥 = 100, ∑𝑦 = 120, ∑𝑥𝑦 = 700, ∑𝑥 2 = 640, ∑𝑦 2 = 860
On further verification it was found that two pairs of values were entered wrongly.
They were copied as (8,10) and (4,6) while the correct values were (10,8) and
(14,16) respectively. Obtain the correct value of correlation coefficient.
