Formwork Method Statement
Formwork Method Statement
B. Procedure
1. Adherence to Specifications
• All formwork activities will strictly adhere to the project specifications and
requirements.
2. Formwork Planning
• The project engineer, after reviewing structural drawings, will plan the
sizes, quantities, and types of formwork needed. Consultation with the
structural engineer may be necessary.
• Depending on the project schedule, the number of times the formwork
will be reused will be determined.
• External designers may be engaged for specific formwork systems.
3. Material Procurement
• The availability of formwork materials will be verified through
coordination with the procurement manager.
• Decisions regarding purchasing, hiring, or reusing formwork materials will
be made based on project needs.
4. Fabrication Checks
• During the fabrication of formwork shutters, dimensions will be cross-
checked to avoid adjustments during erection.
• Reference numbers will be painted on all panels to ensure correct
positioning.
5. Component Verification
• Verify the correct size and spacing of props, shores, waling, bearers,
clamps, and tie rods.
• The formwork designer will ensure that the falsework system can handle
the imposed loads as per specifications.
6. Forms Fastening
• Forms attached to previously cast concrete must be tightly secured to
prevent grout loss. Use cellular foam plastic strips to create seals if
necessary.
7. Quality Checks
• Inspect the quality of shutter lining, tightness of bolts and wedges, and
the placement of built-in items, inserts, and other embedments.
• Ensure that fire extinguishers in working order are readily accessible near
stored formwork.
This method statement emphasizes the importance of careful planning, quality checks, and
safety measures during formwork activities to ensure the successful execution of structural
concrete operations. Always prioritize safety and compliance with project specifications.
