Brief Description of Company – WIPRO

The full form of WIPRO is Western India Palm Refined Oils Limited. WIPRO is a multinational
corporation that provides information technology, consulting, and business process services. It was
founded in 1945 by M. H. Premji as Western India Vegetable Products Limited, a manufacturer of
vegetable and refined oils.

In 1997 Company Was renamed to WIPRO PRODUCT LIMITED which is symbolic term of its original
name

Shift to IT
In the 1980s, recognizing opportunities in computer hardware and software, the company established
subsidiaries Wipro Infotech and Wipro Systems.

TimeLine

In 1981, Wipro developed the first Indian minicomputer based on Intel 8086 Chip in an IISC lab.
The Software development of a spreadsheet and word processing suite and shifted to software development in
1990

By the Mid of 1990s Wipro had become one of the India’s leading manufacturers of Personal Computers,
peripherals and medical diagnostics equipment.

A computerized system that performs and records daily routine transactions


necessary to conduct business.
• Examples: sales order entry, payroll, employee record keeping, and shipping.
• Purpose: To track the flow of transactions through the organization
• Serve operational managers and staff
• Allow managers to monitor the status of operations and relations with the external
environment
• Serve predefined, structured goals and decision-making.
• The principal purpose is to answer routine questions and to track the flow of
transactions through the organization
• E.g., inventory questions, granting credit to a customer

Transaction Processing systems are important for firm which are globally spread , it helps in determining the
number of employees needed for tasks , determination of payrolls , skill set that employee should possessed

Wipro Handled basic administrative tasks such as payroll, time and attendance and transaction recording and
manual input were performed

Impact – Processing Delays and manual interventions were common in those times. Employees work and their
requests require administrative support

Now Wipro has evolved into cloud based TPS systems were software like workday for HR and SAP Ariba for
procurement. This system improved seasonal and project-based demands of employees and also
benefited HR to find appropriate Employees

Impact – It enabled remote access meaning HR can now handle their branch office more accurately than past
and a protocol was established to assess the employees. It also helps in setting up the benchmark for
employees. The type of employee’s demand based on project also gets easier solutions now

Present Scenario (2024)

With evolving technology, companies like Wipro also started the use of AI driven automation for
handling repetitive tasks and blockchain for secure transaction records. It enables instant payroll
adjustments, expense reimbursements.

Impact – The modern technology reduces the manual errors and audit transparency.

Definition - Executive Information system is a computer-based system designed to provide senior executives
with easy access to internal and external information relevant to strategic goals, these goals may be
market opportunities identification, financial analysis, and key performance indicators

Now Wipro has evolved real time dashboards and improved its data insights capabilities and installed these

Wipro had evolved AI driven technologies thereby enhancing the decision-making approach via strategically
and identifying key performers now became even more simpler and analytical prediction now became
simpler thereby enhancing the prediction knowledge, insights more accurately

Definition - A computer-aided automated tool that provides “necessary information” to support
