Definition:
Special ethics is the study of the application of the general principles of
morality to particular department of human activity, individual or social
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
- a sub-branch of special ethics
- a set of moral code to which every profession must subscribe aims
to guide the actuations of the professional in the practice of his profession.
2. Respect
Respect is something that is due to everyone no matter what is
your position or standing the workplace, every person deserve to be
respected as human being. There is that principle that you respect
people not because they are respectable but simply because that is the
attitude of a person who is respectable.
3. Meetings
Being on time is respect to other people’s time. If you have
important meeting or engagement make sure that you come on time
and do not just be an audience make sense of your presence by
contributing your thoughts, idea and impression of the things being
discussed. Be a good listener and respect the organizer, convenor,
speaker, or facilitator and do not take over when someone is explaining
or trying to talk. Follow the procedure and ask reasonable questions.
4. Communication
Speak clearly and politely. Observe proper protocols in making
conversation and correspondence to or for authorities, officials,
superiors, subordinates and co-workers. Be mindful of the your words
and your tone in speaking. As much as possible do not entertain
gossip and focus on your work and things that will contribute to the
success of the organization.
5. Time Management
Professional people wake up early morning. Attend to his work
early and meets deadline religiously. Make sure to have your time
table. And list important workloads and indicate priorities.
6. Integrity
Be always upright in character. Do what is need to be done and
avoid unnecessary things. Avoid developing bad work habits and be
considerate to others. Avoid prejudice and be fair in your dealing with
co-workers and client.
7. Safety
Be mindful of the safety policies and procedures in the
company. Report any hazards or condition that may brought about
damage, loss or injuries.
8. Corporate goals
Bare in mind the company’s vision-mission, goals and objectives
and do your best to contribute in the attainment of the
organization’s goals and objectives.
9. Dress
Wearing of proper uniform (If there is) or clean dress that is
appropriate to the occasion commands respect. If the organization
or company sets it dress code, make sure to observe it every time
you report for work/duty. Avoid wearing clothes that are provocative
or too revealing.
10. Accountability
A professional must take responsibility for his/her works,
actions, deeds. Avoid pointing fingers for it may not help in solving the
problem of the company. Always remember that for every authority or
duty that is vested, there is a commensurate accountability.
11. Teamwork
There are things that can be done solely, but there are many
projects or mission that can better to be accomplish if there is
cooperation and coordination between and among people concerned
for the execution or implementation. We all have our differences but we
should used it as an advantage rather than a disadvantage by
capitalizing on each and everyone’s strength and complimenting their
weaknesses.
12. Commitment
Dedication to work and devotion to one’s duty will can make
impossible things possible. Being professional is doing your best efforts
towards the attainment of the organization’s goals and objectives.
