Data analytics
• Data analytics is the science of analyzing raw data in order
to make conclusions about that information
• It is a broad term that encompasses many diverse types of
data analysis
• Any type of information can be subjected to data analytics
techniques to get insights that can be used to improve
things.
Importance of Data analytics
• Data analytics helps companies gain more visibility and a
deeper understanding of their processes and services. It
gives them detailed insights into the customer experience
and customer problems. By shifting the paradigm beyond
data to connect insights with action, companies can create
personalized customer experiences, build related digital
products
Different Stages of data analytics
• 1. Discovery
• 2. Data acquisition
• 3. Data cleaning
• 4. Data modeling
1. Discovery

• The first step is to determine the data requirements or how

the data is grouped. Data may be separated by age,
demographic, income, or gender. Data values may be
numerical or divided by category.
• Also data analytics can be termed as a problem solving
technique for enhancing various business opportunities.
2. Data acquisition

• The second step in data analytics is the process of collecting

it. This can be done through a variety of sources such as
computers, online sources, cameras, environmental sources,
or through personnel.
• Eg : youtube recommended videos
3. Data cleaning

• The data must be organized after it's collected so it can be

analyzed. This may take place on a spreadsheet or other
form of software that can take statistical data.
• Most important stage
• As per study 60% of time utilises.
4. Data modeling

• The data is then cleaned up before analysis. It's scrubbed

and checked to ensure that there's no duplication or error
and that it is not incomplete. This step helps correct any
errors before it goes on to a data analyst to be analyzed.
• Various softwares and tools are used in this stage. Eg : Excel,
power BI,tableau, SQL
Different fields Of data analytics
• Data analyst : A data analyst is a person who gathers and
interprets data to solve a specific problem.

• Data engineer : Data engineers work in various settings to

build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data
into usable information for data scientists and business
analysts to interpret
• Machine learning engineer : Act as critical members. Their
tasks involve researching and designing the AI responsible
for machine learning and maintaining and improving
existing AI systems.

• Data science generalist : A data analytics generalist would

be an individual who is knowledge and expertise lies almost
exclusively in data analytics.
Different techniques in data
analytics
• Natural language processing : The technology used to make
computers understand and respond to spoken and written
human language. Using this technique to process data like
dictated notes, voice commands, and chat messages.

• Text mining : Data analysts use text mining to identify

trends in text data such as emails, tweets, researches, and
blog posts. It can be used for sorting news content,
customer feedback, and client emails.
• Sensor data analysis : Sensor data analysis is the
examination of the data generated by different sensors. It is
used for predictive machine maintenance, shipment
tracking, and other business processes where machines
generate data.

• Outlier analysis : Outlier analysis or anomaly detection

identifies data points and events that deviate from the rest
of the data.
Data analytics application
How is data analytics used in
business
• Data analytics improves customer insights : Analytics can
reveal hidden information such as customer preferences,
customer feedback and interaction with website forms. This
enables businesses to respond efficiently to customer needs
and increase customer satisfaction.
• Data analytics informs effective marketing campaigns Data
analytics eliminates guesswork from marketing, product
development, content creation, and customer service.
• Data analytics increases operational efficiency : It can help
companies streamline their processes, reduce losses, and
increase revenue and improve business performance.
• Data analytics supports the scaling of data operations : It
introduces automation in several data tasks such as
migration, preparation, reporting, and integration. It
removes manual inefficiencies and reduces the time and
man hours required to complete data operations. This
supports scaling and lets you expand new ideas quickly.
Big data analytics
• Big data analytics describes the process of uncovering
trends, patterns, and correlations in large amounts of raw
data to help make data-informed decisions. These processes
use familiar statistical analysis techniques
• Big data describes large sets of diverse data- structured,
unstructured, and semi-structured- that are continuously
generated at high speed and in high volumes. Big data is
typically measured in terabytes or petabytes.
How does it works?
• 1. Data collection : This
includes identifying data sources and collecting data from
them. Data collection follows ETL or ELT processes
ETL - Extract Transform Load ELT -
Extract Load Transform
• 2. Data storage : Based on
the complexity of data, data can be moved to storage such
as cloud data warehouses or data lakes. Business
intelligence tools can access it when needed
• 3. Data processing : When
data is in place, it has to be converted and organized to
obtain accurate results from analytical queries. Different
data processing options exist to do this. The choice of
approach depends on the computational and analytical
resources available for data processing.

• 4. Data cleansing : Data

cleansing involves scrubbing for any errors such as
duplications, inconsistencies, redundancies, or wrong
formats. It's also used to filter out any unwanted data for
analytics
• 4. Data analysis : Raw
data is converted to actionable insights. Following are the
four types of data analytics
• Descriptive analytics : Data scientists analyse data to
understand what happened or happening in data
environment
• Diagnostic analytics : It is a detailed data analysis process to
understand why something happened
• Predictive analysis : It uses historical data to make accurate
forecast about future trends
• Prescriptive analytics : Takes predictive data to next level.
Future scope of data analytics
• The future of data analysts is characterized by increased
automation, integration of artificial intelligence, handling
big data, industry-specific expertise, continuous learning.
• Data analysts will play a pivotal role in extracting meaningful
insights from evolving technologies and vast datasets while
adapting to dynamic industry demands.
