    Year 12 Short Story Assessment Task Brief 2023/4

    Task 1: Week 6 Friday 15 November.

    Assessment Type: Responding Weighting: 10%

    Time allocation: 5 Weeks


    5o min test.
    Conditions: Unseen Questions, Seen texts. No notes permitted in assessment.

    Task: You will participate in an assessment that requires you to write an analytical essay based on
    the study of two Australian short stories that you have studied over the last 5 weeks.

     You will be given two questions, choose one question only and respond in an essay
    structure, using two short stories you have studied. You will need to memorise your
    content and quotes.
     Your classroom teacher will help you prepare and practice your essay writing by creating
    mock questions that focus on the syllabus concepts listed below.
    Key concepts from the syllabus to focus on & revise are:

     Voice
     Perspective
     Marginalisation
     Representation
     Context (of production and reception)
     Language features
    Your two questions will assess your understanding of the above concepts, even if the question does
    NOT state it explicitly it is implied, so critically analyse and respond to the question having a
    thorough knowledge and understanding of the above concepts.
