UX Design Process

1. User Research:
- Gather insights
- Understand the needs, preferences, and behavior (motivates, frustrates) of
targeted users.
 Pain Points
 Identify improvement opportunities

By:

a. Methods like interviews, surveys, and observations.


b. Putting yourself in their shoes, consider their context, emotions, and challenges.
c. Understand their goals, tasks, and expectations when interacting with products.
d. Highlight moments that motivate or frustrate users.

2. Defining User Requirements:


- Outline – User needs & wants – For product (consider step 1)
 Functional requirements
 Technical constraints
 Prioritize requirements
 Document the requirements
- Ensure alignment of user expectations and product design.

Questions to ask client:

a. User-Centric Questions:
Target audience - Understand their demographics, behaviors, and
preferences.
Project goals and objectives? - Ensure they support both business and
user goals.
Mode of Product use - mobile, desktop, etc.
Like/dislike about the existing product?
Any special user needs - limited connectivity, language, etc.
b. Design Preferences and Vision:
The pitch of the product – Core message
Any brand guidelines or existing design assets
Specific colors, fonts, or imagery of preference
Competitors’ designs do they like and what sets you apart?
Design elements you’d like to avoid
Messages or content should be prominent in the design

c. Business Context:
Project Motive
Scope, timeline?

3. Information Architecture and Wireframing:


- Organize content and structure
- Create wireframes to visualize the layout and flow of your interface.

4. Prototyping and Interaction Design:


- Focus on user interactions, navigation, and usability (low and high-fidelity).

5. Visual Design and UI Elements:


- Consider visual aspects of the interface including colors, typography, icons,
imagery, Layout, and Composition.
- Ensure consistency and alignment with your brand or project goals.

6. Usability Testing and Iteration:


- Test your prototypes to identify usability issues.
- Get feedback and improve.

7. Development and Implementation:


- Collaborate with developers to bring your design to life.
- Ensure that the final product aligns with your vision and meets user needs.
