WHAT IS FENG SHUI?
Beyond the art of placement
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that harmonizes
individuals with their environment. It involves tapping the
environment’s positive energy, or "chi," which can influence health,
wealth, and happiness, not limited to just arranging your
living spaces.
Though some might wonder whether it is an art or science, Feng
Shui blends intuitive principles with methodical practices, making
it both.
Feng Shui's principles are rooted in the understanding of how the
stars, cosmic forces, and earth energies interact. This practice has
evolved over centuries, incorporating the wisdom of various masters
who have added their insights and interpretations.
Today, Feng Shui is both a respected tradition and a practical tool
for creating balanced and harmonious living spaces.

THE HISTORICAL JOURNEY
The origins
Tracing back to the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420 AD), Feng Shui was
initially known as "Hamu," which means the esoteric study of how
stars and cosmic energies influence Earth. The practice was later
refined over the centuries.
The term "Feng Shui" itself, meaning "wind-water," emerged later
during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912 AD).
One of the earliest and most significant figures in Feng Shui was
Guo Pu (276-324 AD).
He wrote the "Burial Classics," a foundational text that explains the
principles of chi flow, the five elements, and landform energies.
Guo Pu's work laid the groundwork for future masters who
continued to develop and expand Feng Shui techniques.
Throughout history, various dynasties have contributed to the
evolution of Feng Shui. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD),
notable masters like Yang Yunsong played pivotal roles. Yang
Yunsong, often revered as the Grandmaster of Feng Shui, authored
several important texts and taught disciples who further spread his
teachings.

KEY CONCEPTS
Feng Shui involves several concepts and
principles that are essential for
understanding:
CHI (Qi)
The life force or energy that flows through all living
things and their environments. Good Feng Shui aims to
enhance positive chi and minimize negative chi.
YING & YANG
The balance of opposites. Yin represents passive, dark
and feminine energy, while Yang represents active,
bright, and masculine energy. A harmonious balance of
Yin and Yang is crucial in Feng Shui.
