The Most Common problems the maintenance engineers have been encountering are
mainly in the tubes like:
1. Erosion & Corrosion problems at tube to tube sheet joint
2. Cracks, pit holes, punctures in the tube & the most common
solution given at site is to go for -

1. Plugging & 2. Retubing

Plugging of a tube decreases the efficiency of the Heat exchanger, whereas retubing is
Laborious, time consuming & a costly process.
Though VP Engineers, offers, both retubing services & tube
plugs, in its strive to give the best services to the customer,
is now offering full length tube liners to completely restore a
damaged tube.

Advantages of Tube Lining are

1. Tube Liners are of same material as that of the parent
tube (damaged tube) or a superior corrosion and erosion
resistant material.
2. Superior bonding technology of Hydro Expansion
(Not hydraulic expansion) ensures the tube and the liner
are bonded throughout the length uniformly without any
air gap. Loss of heat transfer is negligible due to added
thickness of liner to the tube.
3. Tube lining is a quicker process. Each tube gets lined in
minutes saving the valuable labour time, cost & down
time.
LINED TUBE 4. Tube lining is relatively cheaper as compared to retubing
(CUT SECTION) as it involves lesser labour, more mechanized.
5. No need to remove the old damaged tube. Damaged tube
will be restored to working level with the liner. Lot of time
is saved resulting in cost saving & labour time.

Standard tube liner materials are 55 304, 55 316, 55321, Cu-Ni 90/10, Cu-Ni 70/30,
A 1-Brass. Ad-Brass. Ttanium. Hastelloy. Zirconium etc.. Any new combination
can also be given to suit the conditions. -. MOTHER TUBE

Cleaning Pigs
VP manufactures Cleaning Pigs with combination of materials. In general, for hard
applications Cleaning pigs will be based on a Steel Mandrel fitted with 2 or 4 Conical Cups at
the ends and interspersed with Wire Brush either circular or tangential.

Bi-DiPigs
Bi-Di or Bi-directional Pigs, as the name suggests canl")love in both the directions. It is
generally made out of Discs (Sealing, Guiding, Bolting & Spacers) of Polyurethane fitted to
the Steel Mandrel. Bi-directionalFoam Pigs are also available.

Batching pig & Gauging pigs

Batching Pigs are used for batching th~ products in the pipeline. Pigs are usually fitted with
a cups. Gauging pigs are used for gauging the dimensions of the pipeline before product is
launched in the pipeline.

Cups are generally available in PU, NBR, Neoprene, etc.

Gauging Plates are available in Aluminium, PU, Rubber, etc.

Foam Pigs
Foam Pigs are available in three different densities - Low, Medium & High.
Foam Pigs... are either - bare, criss-cross coated or fully coated,
It is used in wide range of applications in different pipelines and it is cutomized to suit the
specific needs of the customer.

Foam Pigs also have abrasive coatings on the surface with Silicon carbide Strips. Generally
coated Foam Pigs are coated with PU elastomer coating.
