The bar chart compares the percentage of the Internet users in Taiwan by age group from
1998 to 2000. As can be seen from the graph, the figures for the internet users aged 16-30 and
31-50 were higher than those for users aged less than 15 and 50 or more. However, the
internet use of the former groups tended to decrease steadily, while that of the latter ones
increased gradually.
It is clear from the chart that the proportion of people using the internet aged between 16- 30
accounted for approximately half of the total figure for the users and the largest in four
groups. The percentage of this group, however, tended to fall steadily by 8% and 1% in 1999
and 2000 respectively.
The figure for users aged between 31- 50 was the second largest and tended to go down
gradually at 2 % each year.
The percentage of the users aged less than 15 was the lowest. However, there was a dramatic
increase in the percentage of users which belongs to this age group. The percentage of the
internet users quadrupled in just one year, from 2 % in 1998 to 8 % in 1999.
In sum, the graph shows not only the percentage of the internet users but also the tendency of
the internet usage by age group.
