Problems
Problem 1
Find all nonnegative integer solutions (a, b, c, d) to the equation

2a 3b − 5c 7d = 1.

Problem 2
Prove that for any prime p, there exists a positive integer n such that

1n + 2n−1 + 3n−2 + · · · + n1 ≡ 2020 (mod p).

Problem 3
Alice and Bob play the following game. They alternate selecting distinct nonzero
digits (from 1 to 9) until they have chosen seven such digits, and then consider
the resulting seven-digit number (i.e. A1 B2 A3 B4 A5 B6 A7 ). Alice wins if and only if
the resulting number is the last seven decimal digits of some perfect seventh power.
Please determine which player has the winning strategy.

Problem 4
Find all pairs p > q of prime numbers such that

(p + q)p+q (p − q)p−q − 1
(p + q)p−q (p − q)p+q − 1

is an integer.

Problem 5
Find, with proof, all positive integers n for which 2n + 12n + 2011n is a perfect square.

Buffer Problem 6
Let m and n be positive integers such that m > n. Define xk = m+k n+k for k =
1, 2, . . . , n + 1. Prove that if all the numbers x1 , x2 , . . . , xn+1 are integers, then
x1 x2 . . . xn+1 − 1 is divisible by an odd prime.

Buffer Problem 7
pk
Call a rational number r powerful if r can be expressed in the form for some
q
relatively prime positive integers p, q and some integer k > 1. Let a, b, c be positive
rational numbers such that abc = 1. Suppose there exist positive integers x, y, z such
that ax + by + cz is an integer. Prove that a, b, c are all powerful.

Buffer Problem 8
etermine all ordered pairs (a, p) of positive integers, with p prime, such that pa + a4
is a perfect square.

Buffer Problem 9
Find all positive integers n such that there exists a unique integer a such that
0 ≤ a < n! with the following property:

n! | an + 1
