Advances and dangers of Artificial intelligence

In recent years the impact of artificial intelligence has significantly increased. Its
contribution both in our everyday live and industry is hard to overestimate. We can
observe how AI develops more and more rapidly and becomes more efficient.

However autonomous AI can be really dangerous. It is well-known fact that now

artificial intelligence has access to dozens of different operating systems. On the one
hand we can use it for searching for information and other data, finding solution to
different kinds of problems etc. Scientists even managed to decode protein structures
using artificial intelligence, which is going to help in creating medicine, illness
prevention and general biochemistry understanding. But on the other it can be used
for creating weapons of mass destruction, cyberattacks and other forms of damage.
Moreover, autonomous decision-making without human oversight can cause severe
consequences by virtue of most AI systems prioritize efficiency over ethics. The issue
of ratio of benefits and dangers of AI is a complex one.

While some people are in no doubt that artificial intelligence helps to schedule
appointments, create and recommend content and even perform surgeries, others
claim that it can replace humans in various industries, disrupting economies. AI can
also create photos, videos and even soundtracks that are really hard to divide from the
real ones. This might cause disinformation and make “total control society” which
means that some fat cats, powered with artificial intelligence systems, will have the
opportunity to control and regulate the lives of most people.

I am inclined to believe that as long as AI is AI is not yet powerful enough to cause

significant harm, people do not have to worry. However, the government should form
a Federal AI Agency that will determine the maximum allowable level of computing
power for training AI models and issue permits to companies to use a particular level
of computing power.

In conclusion, autonomous AI offers remarkable opportunities to improve human life,

it also presents significant risks. By implementing strict regulations and uphold
ethical artificial intelligence development, we can ensure that these advanced systems
serve humanity positively, minimizing potential dangers while maximizing the
benefits AI can bring to society.
