2. 6+5= 2. 11
C. MOTIVATION
I have here a story problem. Think
about how you could solve the
problem using the materials on the
desk.

“Imagine you have 24 marbles, and

your friend gives you 5 more. How
many marbles do you have in total? There are 29 marbles in total.

D. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON

Our lesson for today is about adding

Two-Digit and One-Digit Numbers
with Sums up to 100 (without
regrouping).
But before we dig deeper let us read
first our learning objectives.
At the end of the lesson, the
learners should be able to;
a. Use concrete and pictorial models to
add two and one-digit numbers.
b. Solve problems (orally or in pictures)
involving addition with sums up to
100 without regrouping.

E. DISCUSSION PROPER

Addition is combining two or more

numbers to get a new total.
 The symbol used for addition
problems looks like a cross +, and is
called a plus sign.
 The total addition is called the sum.

Addition without regrouping is the

process of adding two or more
numbers without rearranging them or
carrying tens or hundreds. It's used
when the sum of the digits in each
column is less than or equal to 9.

Vertical addition is a method of

adding numbers by writing them in
columns, with the digits of the same
place value aligned. It's also known
as column addition.

To add one- or two-digit numbers

without regrouping, you can:

 Start with the one's column: Add

the numbers in the one's column first,
then the tens column.

 Write the numbers vertically: Write

the numbers in a vertical position to
add them.

 Mark the ones' place: Use a color,

highlighter, or pencil to mark the
ones' place.

 Add the numbers straight

down: Add the numbers straight
down, starting with the right side and
working left.

For example, to add 34 and 21

without regrouping, you would:
 Add the numbers in the ones column:
4+1=5
 Write 5 in the one's column
 Add the numbers in the tens column:
3+2=5
 Write 5 in the tens column
 The sum of 34 and 21 is 55

34 72
+ 21 + 14
------------------ ----------
55 86
Look at each additional sentence
below. The answer (sum) is already
given. Your task is to figure out the
missing addend and write it in the
box to complete the addition
sentence.
Are you ready class?

Let's solve the following.

Good job everyone! Let’s give an

amazing clap to ourselves.

G. GENERALIZATION
How was our activity class?
Is it hard to add numbers without
regrouping?

Why Is it important to know how to

add in real life?

Can you think of a time when you

used addition?

What will happen if you don’t know

how to add?

If you don’t know how to add, you

might get confused and get the
wrong answer.
Do you have any questions?

IV. EVALUATION
To test your understanding, get ` a
piece of paper and answer the
activity.

Direction: Draw a line to connect to its

sum
