About this Software


TekScope Utility is a software utility designed for the transfer of data (screenshots, waveforms etc.) from
Tektronix Oscilloscopes to the PC so they may be saved to the PC’s hard disk.

Features Include:

• Transfer and saving of screenshots (hard copies) from scope to PC (.png, .jpg or .bmp)
• Transfer and saving of analog waveform data from scope to PC (.CSV)
• Transfer and saving of digital waveforms data from scope to PC (.CSV)
• Transfer and saving of measurement data from scope to PC (.CSV)
• Transfer of scope setups to and from the scope
• Command console for interactive remote command sessions with instrument
• Data Logging of scope data to PC over time

Prerequisites
• PC equipped with Supported Microsoft Windows Operating System
o Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit
o Windows 8.1 32-bit or 64-bit
o Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit
o 4GB RAM or more.
• Connected by GPIB, USB, RS232 or LAN to a compatible Tektronix Oscilloscope.
• VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) software supporting the VISA.NET library.
o NI VISA is recommended

• For some users where the Windows system font MS Sans Serif has been substituted with a
different font (typically Cambria), the layout of the UI would not draw properly, and the buttons
near the bottom of the window would be pushed off the screen. This has been corrected.

• The MSO4034B and MSO4054B were mistakenly missing from support. This has been corrected.
• Fixed an issue with the probe attenuation value saved in the CSV file as a negative number for

• Modified measurement fetching to ignore Windows localization settings. This avoids
measurement parsing errors when the Region in Windows is set to a region where ‘,’ is used for
the decimal.
• Modified measurement fetching to not error out if scope returns a measurement value that is
not a number. This can happen on some scopes if the scope has not finished processing
measurements or has no data to make measurements on.
• Fixed an issue where refreshing the analog sources on 4/5/6 series would timeout if a digital
probe was plugged in and that channel was active.
• Fixed an issue where refreshing the analog sources would timeout on 4/5/6 series if the
channels were inactive.
• Many changes under the hood to improve code modularity. I apologize ahead of time if this
causing anything to break.

• Fixed an issue on DPO70000SX Series instruments with ATI inputs where only CH1 and CH2 were
available to fetch waveforms from.
• Increased the maximum record length allowed for fetching waveforms to 62.5M.
Note: Fetching waveforms at these record lengths will use a lot of RAM on your computer.

Known Issues
• Waveform transfer of Fast Frame Acquisitions is not supported and will generate an error.
• FFT Reference waveform transfers on MSO 4, 5 and 6 do not work.
