2. Click the New toolbar item to create a new Virtual Machine, or do the same from the
main menu by choosing Machine > New

3. Write Ubuntu in the virtual machine name, select Linux as an operating system, select
Ubuntu as the version, and finally click Next
4. Enter the amount of memory (512MB Recommended). But you are restricted by the
amount of free memory of the host machine, and then click Next
NOTE: After specifying the amount of memory for your virtual machine, your host
machine memory usage (including the amount for your virtual machine) should not
exceed 85%. If it happens, your host machine will slow down, affecting your virtual/guest
machine.

5. Click Create
6. Click Next

7. Click Next
8. Browse for the location you want to save the virtual disk in, and for demo purposes, we
will create a virtual hard disk of size 8 GB, then click Create

9. Click Start
10. Select the Ubuntu ISO Image as a Media Source, then click Start

1. Click Install Ubuntu.
2. Click Continue.

8. Click Devices -> CD/DVD Devices -> Remove disk from Virtual drive.
10. Now Ubuntu is installed, but to allow it to run in Full Screen mode, we have to
install software called “Guest Additions”

12. Click Run.
16. Now you can run Ubuntu in full screen mode by selecting View ->
Switch to Fullscreen

Terminologies
Host Machine
Is the physical machine that you are running VirtualBox or any Virtualization Software on.
Guest Machine
Is the virtual machine that you setup on the host machine using a Virtualization Software.
