Session 2: Inserting Images and Objects in a Document

Adding Graphical Objects


Adding graphical objects toyour document makes it more appealing. It changes a drab document into an
interesting one and brings life into your document. Graphicalobjects are images such as pictures, charts,
shapes, etc. added to the document. Let us now learn how to insert a graphical object into a document.
Inserting Pictures
1 Click on Insert ’ Image ’ Locate the image you want to insert.
2. If you want tO see the imagebefore you insert it,
click on Show/Hide Preview pane.

Inserting Picture by Drag and Drop


One can easily insert the image from file by dragging and dropping it in the writer.
1. Locate the image/picture.
2. Drag it to the Writer and drop it wherever you want it in your document.
This actually embeds the image/picture in the Writer document.
You can also establish a link instead of embedding it. For doing so you need to keep the Ctrl + Shift keys
pressed while dragging the image/picture to the Writer document.
Inserting a Scanned Image
You can also insert a scanned image in your document but ensure the scanner must be connected to your
System and the scanner software drivers must be installed.

With Fontwork, youcan create graphical text art objects to make your documents more attractive. Thera
are many different settings for text art objects (line, area, position, size, and more).

1. From the Drawing toolbar, click on the Fontwork F icon. Select a fFontwork style

The Fontwork Gallery dialog box will open.


2. Select a Fontwork style and click on the OK button. The

graphic in relation to the chosen anchor point.

For both the horizontal and vertical position, first click on the Horizontal drop-down menu given under
Position section, then select among Left, Right or Center. Then click on the Vertical drop-down menu and

Image as Page Background


In LibreOffice Writer, the page background refers to the design, colour, or image that covers the entire
background of a document page. It can enhance the overall visual appeal of your document.
Let us apply an image as a tiled background. Atiled background means the image is repeated across the
