Sheet 1

Determine which of the following system hold the following properties

(Memoryless, linear, causal, time invariant) and which don’t hold for
each system justify your answer

a. y(n) = x(n+2)+x(2-n)

b. y(n) = cos(x(n))

c. y(n) = n x(3-2n)

d. y(n) = ln(x(n))

e. y(n) = n2 x(3-2n)

f. y(n) = x(n+2)+x(2-n)

g. y(n) = cos(n) x(3n)

2- For the following two signal x(n) and h(n) get y(n) which is the
convolution x(n) * h(n) and sketch y(n) , h(n) and x(n) where :

a) h(n) = 2 0<n<2
0 otherwise

x(n) = |n| -2 < n < 2

b)

h(n) = -n -2 < n < 2

0 otherwise

x(n) = |n| -2 < n< 2

0 otherwise

c)
x(n) = n 0≤n≤2

2 2 < n≤ 4

0 otherwise

And h(n) = 2 0 ≤ n≤ 2

0 otherwise

d)

x(n) = n+1 0≤n≤5

h(n) = n2 + 1 -2 ≤ n ≤ 2

6. For the following two signal x(n) and h(n) get y(n) which is the
convolution of x(n) and h(n) (y(n)=x(n)*h(n))and sketch y(n)

Where x(n)=h(n)
