AIM: Every student should individually install MS windows on the personal computer. Lab instructor should verify
the installation and follow it up with a Viva.
In this process you need a minimum 8GB of USB pen drive. First, we need to create a bootable USB pen drive of
Windows 10. So, for this open your browser and in the browser type Windows 10 and you can see the Microsoft
URL. Click on the URL.
Step1: So, this is the official website of Microsoft scroll down and you can see this option create Windows 10
installation media. Click on this download tool now option. So, this is the tool media creation tool just click on it to
run this software.
Step4 : Untick this option and you can see the first option language. So, you can change or select your language
addition is with those 10 and you can also select the operating system bit. So, I will go for 64 bit then click on next.
Step5: Now select the first option USB flash drive and one more important thing it needs to be at least 8 GB of space
in your pen drive. So, this is important and if you want to download Windows 10 ISO image select the second
option. So, this option will help you to download Windows 10 ISO image. In my case I will go for the first one.
Select this USB flash drive option and now insert your pen drive. I plugged in my pen drive in my laptop. One more
important thing in this process all the data in your pen drive will be removed. This is important if you have any
important data in your USB pen drive take the data backup first. Now after plug in your pen drive select this option
and then click on next.
Step 6 : You can see this is the drive letter F and this is my USB pen drive. Same here you can see drive letter F. This
is my USB pen drive. Select your USB pen drive then click on next. This process will create a bootable pen drive of
Windows 10 and the process has been started and it will take some time.
Step 7: Process completed. Your USB flash drive is ready. Now click on finish. Now unplug your pen drive safely.
So, the bootable pen drive is ready now.
Step 8:This is my windows 10 bootable pen drive and this is my laptop plug in your USB pen drive. Now open the
boot menu in your laptop. I am using an HP laptop in HP laptop. You can use this F9 key to open your boot menu.
Turn on your laptop and within a second start pressing F9 key. Press F9 key continuously to open the boot menu.
And you can see the boot menu. Now select UEFI Scandisk. This is my pen drive name. Select your pen drive then
press enter.
Step 9: This is installation menu. So now click on next. In next window click on I don’t have a product key.
Step 11: Now skip this option. Click on I don’t have a product key.
Step 12: I will go for windows 10 Pro. Then click on next.
Step 13: Check the check box I accept the license term. Then click on next.
Step 14: Now click on this custom option. The second option.
Upgrade:
An upgrade installation is a process of installing a newer version of the Windows operating system to replace the existing
version. This process involves uninstalling the existing version and then installing the new version in its place, while preserving
some of the user's existing files and settings.
Custom:
A custom installation is a process of installing a version of the Windows operating system using the user's specifications. This
process involves selecting the desired components to be installed, as well as setting up the directory structure and other
preferences. The user can select which components to install and which to leave out, as well as make other customizations
such as setting up user accounts and configuring network settings.
Step 15: So, this is my hard drive. I have 120 GB of SSD in my laptop. So first I will select this unallocated space.
Then click on new to create a partition. Now enter the amount of partition you want to create. Here i will go for the
single partition. Click on Next button.
Step 16: Click on apply and click on OK. So the partition has been created.
Step 17: Select the Primary partition and Click on next to install windows 10.
Step 18: And you can see the process has been started and it will take around half an hour.
Step 19: So then installation is almost complete. Now select your region, your country. Then click on yes.
Step 20: Now select your keyboard layout. Then click on yes.
Step 21: If you have Windows 10 Pro, setting up a local account is much easier. During the setup process, you will see a screen
that offers two options: Set up for personal use and Set up for an organization. Assuming this is a personal computer and not a
Step 22: Now you have two options to log in. You can use your Microsoft account to login or you can create a new Microsoft
account or you can create an offline account. So I will go for the offline account. Click on this option offline account. Then click
on this limited experience.
Step 23: The next screen asks you to type the email address or phone number for your Microsoft account. Instead, click
the Offline account link (this is Microsoft-speak for a local account). Microsoft tries its best to steer you away from a local
account, but you can continue if you click the Limited experience option.
Step 24: You will then be asked to enter a username and password you wish to use for your local account. The next screen
prompts you to choose three security questions and answers to gain access to your local account should you ever forget the
password.
Windows will then proceed through the setup process. Once you have completed the setup, you will be deposited at the
Windows desktop. You can now use your local account to sign into Windows.
Step 25:The installation has been done now. So, this is how you can install Windows 10.
