Objectives:
1. Determine how waves move
2. Identify waves according to the direction of motion of the particles of the medium

Materials: slinky or spiral spring

Procedure:
1. Bring out the spiral spring or a slinky. Let a classmate at one fixed end move the slinky up and down repeatedly.
Observe the high part and low part of the wave. Draw your observation in the box.

2. Lay the slinky on the table or any flat surface. Quickly push the spring in and pull it back between yourself and a
partner. Observe the compressed and stretched regions. Draw your observation in the box.
