NCP 2207 – Data and Digital Communications Laboratory

Name: Reynald Filip O. Cruz Assign #: 8.4

Student Number: 20221134129 Subject & Section: NCP 2207 | 2CPE-2B

Experiment 8.4: RIP

1. Configure Routers

Router 0:

Router 2:

Router 3:

- Specifying hostnames and interface IP addresses facilitates correct identification and connectivity
configuration.

2. On each router, verify that you can ping the directly connected neighbors.

Router 0:

Router 2:

Router 3:

- Successful pings show that there is functional communication between directly linked routers.

3. Add RIP to Router0.

- Enabling RIP and selecting directly linked networks enables routers to communicate routing
information.

4. Add the network(s) to which Router0 is directly connected.

- Adding directly linked networks into Router0's RIP setup guarantees that nearby routers are listed,
which facilitates route fluctuation.

5. Add RIP to Router2.

- Enabling RIP on Router2 provides dynamic routing updates, which improves network flexibility.

6. Add the network(s) to which Router2 is directly connected.

- Including directly linked networks in Router2's RIP setup improves route advertising and network
convergence.

7. Add RIP to Router3.

- Enabling RIP on Router3 provides dynamic routing updates, which improves network flexibility

8. Add the network(s) to which Router4 is directly connected.

- Adding directly linked networks within Router4's RIP setup improves route distribution and
optimizes network routing.

9. Now, RIP should be running on all three routers. See if you can ping between routers that are
not directly connected. For instance, from Router2 you should now be able to ping Router4’s
interface.

- Pings from non-directly linked routers indicate RIP operation and route dispersion.

10. Connect to Router4, and ping Router2’s Ethernet 0 interface.

- Bidirectional ping enables two-way communication between non-directly linked routers,

confirming routing setups.

11. Now, issue the command to display the routing table on Router4.

- Viewing the routing database on Router4 displays RIP-learned routes and validates routing
modifications.

12. Display specific IP routing protocol information on Router4.

- Examining RIP protocol information indicates that the RIP process runs smoothly and is properly
configured.

13. Configure other devices

SERVER:

- Adding IP addresses, hostnames, default gateways, and DNS servers to PCs and servers indicates
network connectivity and effective DNS resolution.

14. Finally, Ping from PC1 to PC2 and add www.yahoo.com to Server DNS and try to open
yahoo html page from pc1

- Testing connection between PCs and attempting to visit a website using DNS validates network
operation and DNS resolution.
